After what seems like forever since the last time we saw Huawei launch a phone in the Kenyan market, the company has today announced it will be bringing the Huawei NOVA Y60 to the market in early December 2021. We expect pricing to be around KES 19,000 and the device will be running Huawei’s Mobile Services on top of Open Source Android.
The NOVA Y60 is expected to be the first of many devices Huawei will be bringing to the market in the coming months. It seems the company – after a long silence – is ramping up efforts once again to sell smartphones and expands its Harmony OS reach.
The company says the new mid-range device is part of a new branch of the Huawei NOVA series that is integrating the NOVA and the Y series. Normally, the NOVA series focuses on design and style and bringing flagship features to mid-range phones. Meanwhile, the Y-series has always focused on bringing as many of Huawei’s innovations as possible to all customers at affordable prices.
While Huawei says the merging of the two series of devices will help provide more product options to customers, it seems the company is doing this to reduce the number of series of phones they will be offering going forward.
Speaking of the soon to be launched device, Jim Zhijue said, “Lingering on the market for a new smartphone but have no clue where to start? Actually, there are quite a number of smartphones coming in the next few months. Among them is an interesting option that you might be excited about, the Huawei NOVA Y60. We are glad to launch the smartphone during the festive season when each one of us is looking for something to gift our loved ones.”
The company says Kenyan users should look forward to the design, display, battery life, and camera performance of the NOVA Y60.
