Mdundo.com, in collaboration with Safaricom, has launched a groundbreaking subscription service. This service, priced at an affordable KES 5 per day, offers Kenyans unprecedented access to a wide array of DJ mixes. It represents a significant step forward in monetizing music for artists, reshaping user experiences, and providing a sustainable income for music creators.
The service is exclusively available to Safaricom customers, who can register at www.mdundo.com/djmixes. Upon registration, users gain the privilege of discovering new artists, enjoying unlimited music downloads, and receiving fresh DJ mixes daily. This initiative is much more than a mere entertainment platform; it is a tool for artists to secure consistent income, allowing them to concentrate on honing their craft and producing more music.
Martin Neilsen, CEO of Mdundo.com, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Collaborating with Safaricom to introduce our subscription plan is a partnership that re-enforces our commitment to enriching lives through music. Together, we are unlocking amazing benefits for music and DJ Mixes enthusiasts. Our collaboration with Safaricom not only enhances the user experience but also underscores our shared vision of making music an integral part of everyday life.”
In August last year, Mdundo.com claimed to have 20.3 Million monthly active users. In the release announcing the Safaricom collaboration, the company now claims 29.2 million monthly active users in September 2023, up 36% from 21.5 million in September 2022. The company says its goal is to cater to the 613 million mobile subscribers expected in Africa by 2025, offering locally relevant services and content.
Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom PLC, commented on the partnership, “Our goal is to provide Kenyans freedom, choice, and control over the content they consume, and we are delighted to embark on this journey with Mdundo.com. This is a collaboration that shows our commitment to enhancing the digital music landscape and empowering our customers to enjoy their favorite music with ease and convenience.”
In addition to this partnership, Safaricom continues to support the Kenyan creative and music industry through its in-house propositions like Baze and Skiza, and collaborations with industry leaders such as Mdundo.com. This endeavor is more than a business move; it’s a cultural revolution, setting a new standard in the music industry and demonstrating a deep commitment to the artistic community.
