MEST Africa Unveils Top 5 Tech Startups in Equity Challenge

The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) Africa has officially announced the top 5 regional winners in the 2023 MEST Africa Challenge (MAC). This prestigious competition, showcasing some of Africa’s most promising early-stage technology startups, is set to award a grand prize of $50,000 in equity.

After intense and rigorous pitch sessions, these five startups have proven their mettle, standing out among 40 contenders from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa. These finalists epitomize innovation across diverse sectors such as fintech, health tech, e-commerce, and edtech.

Introducing the Finalists:

  1. Letaji (Kenya): Revolutionizing the construction industry, Letaji is an innovative online marketplace. It streamlines the process of purchasing building materials, effectively connecting homeowners, contractors, and hardware stores with top suppliers.
  2. Chestify AI (Ghana): A trailblazer in patient care, Chestify AI is enhancing healthcare delivery. This platform facilitates seamless connections and support among clinical professionals, offering an integrative approach to medical services.
  3. OneHealth (Nigeria): At the forefront of health tech, OneHealth is an integrated platform offering virtual consultations. It connects patients with doctors and diagnostic centers, managing prescriptions and test results online, thus revolutionizing patient-doctor interactions.
  4. Sanya (Senegal): A visionary in IT edutainment, Sanya blends education and entertainment in its digital products. This approach fosters a community-based method of tech learning, particularly tailored for companies.
  5. Koa Academy (South Africa): Pioneering the future of online education, Koa Academy is a leader in South Africa’s educational landscape. Their innovative approach to digital learning is setting new standards in the educational sector.

Anticipating the Final Showdown

The finalists are gearing up for their final pitch at the end of January, in an event hosted by MEST Africa.
