One of the devices we really wish would launch in Kenya, the Infinix GT 20 Pro, won’t be after all – not just yet though (see link at the end). As a rule of thumb, gaming devices are actually, really good phones. As you will see with the specifications of this phone, this is a good phone! The GT 20 Pro stands out in the global smartphone market, equipped with powerful features that cater to the needs of gaming and tech enthusiasts and everyday users alike. At its core, the phone is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, a cutting-edge processor competing with flagship offerings from Qualcomm in efficiency and speed.
This chipset, paired with an octa-core CPU and the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU, ensures that the device can handle intensive tasks like heavy gaming, video streaming, and multitasking with ease. The phone’s performance is further enhanced by its 12GB of RAM that can be expanded to 24GB virtually, providing ample memory to keep applications running smoothly without lag.
Display:
The display on the Infinix GT 20 Pro is another highlight, featuring a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel offering users a rich and vibrant visual experience. With a resolution of 1080×2436 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate, the display is perfect for watching gaming, watching videos, and the good old web browsing. The high refresh rate, plus sampling rate makes the display very fluid, ensuring smoother transitions and animations, making the overall user experience very, very responsive. Whether you’re streaming your favorite show or playing whichever mobile game, the GT 20 Pro’s display isn’t built to disappoint.
Cameras:
With gaming devices, there’s always a sort of compromise with things like cameras. Here, that’s not the case. Infinix GT 20 Pro rear setup features a 108 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, supported by optical image stabilization (OIS) for sharp, detailed images even in low light conditions. The extra lenses are bad however. No one will use them because they are a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens, only added for aesthetics.
At the front, the phone is equipped with a 32 MP camera that promises high-quality selfies, thanks to its wide-angle lens and dual-LED flash. Video recording is equally impressive, with the ability to capture 4K footage at 30/60fps and slow-motion videos at up to 240fps.
Battery and Storage:
In terms of storage, the GT 20 Pro offers generous options with 256GB of internal storage, utilizing UFS 3.1 technology for very fast read and write speeds. This ensures that the device not only performs efficiently but also provides ample space for storing large files, apps, and multimedia content.
The phone’s 5000 mAh battery is designed to keep up with the device’s high performance, offering long battery life for all-day usage. When it’s time to recharge, the 45W wired charging ensures that the battery is quickly replenished, minimizing downtime. Infinix’s smart charging capabilities are included. These help keep the battery healthy and cool, even when you use the phone while charging it.
Why the Infinix GT 20 Pro stands out:
If anyone is buying this phone, they’re definitely buying it because of the display, the processor and the performance. But that’s not all. Infinix has done the following to make the device even more attractive:
- No bloatware included. Infinix even writes this as a perk on the box of the device. So whoever gets this phone won’t get the annoying extra unwanted apps, and notification ads.
- Smart LED lighting for notifications, music playback, fun, gaming etc. There’s an LED strip at the back of the phone that can be customized to perform many different things including lighting up when gaming.
- Speakers tuned by JBL
- IR Blaster to control appliances at home
- Incredibly cool accessories like a fan you attach to cool the device when having long gaming sessions.
We received a review unit for the phone, and asked Infinix to avail the device in Kenya for people who might want to buy it. They shared the link below for people who might be interested with the unit to fill in. Let’s hope interested parties will be able to get their hands-on.
