KCB Commits KES 80 Million to 2025 East Africa Golf Tour

KCB Bank Kenya has allocated KES 80 million to support the third edition of the East Africa Golf Tour, a series that will include 30 events across 16 counties in Kenya and four other East African countries—Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Uganda. The initiative aims to promote the growth of golf, nurture talent, and foster regional collaboration.

The tour was launched on January 23, 2025, with the first leg set to take place at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club on February 1. Throughout the year-long event, Saturdays will host amateur competitions, while Sundays will focus on junior golf clinics. Tournaments for caddies are also planned in select clubs.

The series will culminate in a grand finale on December 5, 2025, with top teams competing for the grand prize of KES 1 million. The prize is intended to fund sustainability projects at the winners’ home clubs, and the winning team will also gain entry to a prestigious golf event in Kenya.

In addition to promoting golf, KCB has integrated environmental conservation into the initiative. The bank will organize tree-planting exercises and promote the adoption of environmentally friendly LPG solutions at participating clubs.

KCB Group Treasurer, Anthony Mulisa, highlighted the significance of the event, stating that it provides an opportunity for amateur golfers to develop their skills while advancing inclusivity and regional partnerships.

The bank is also using the platform to unveil its new Multi-Currency Prepaid Card, developed in partnership with Mastercard. The card, which supports the highest number of currencies on a single card, aims to provide customers with a cost-effective tool for managing international transactions.

The East Africa Golf Tour is part of KCB’s broader commitment to sports sponsorships, which include volleyball, football, rugby, chess, and athletics. The bank’s involvement in these initiatives underscores its long-standing tradition of supporting sports development in Kenya.
