Safaricom Announces KES 5 Million Sponsorship for the 2025 Magical Kenya Open

Safaricom has reaffirmed its commitment to Kenyan sports by announcing a KES 5 million sponsorship for the upcoming 56th edition of the Magical Kenya Open (MKO). The prestigious golf tournament is set to take place from February 20 to 23, 2025, at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi.

As the official technology partner, Safaricom will provide high-speed internet connectivity at the event through a Cell on Wheels (COW), ensuring seamless live broadcasting and real-time scoring. The company will also offer 4G-enabled scoring devices and airtime to enhance communication throughout the tournament.

Safaricom’s Commitment to Golf and Sports in Kenya

Speaking on the sponsorship, Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa emphasized the company’s long-standing support for Kenyan sports:

This year’s tournament will bring together 150 participants, including 19 Kenyan golfers—comprising 13 professionals, four amateurs, and two junior players. Among the notable local players expected to compete are:

  • David Wakhu
  • Michael Karanga
  • Greg Snow
