Gozem Raises $30M in Series B Funding to Transform Mobility and Fintech in Africa

Gozem, a leading Super App in Francophone Africa, has successfully secured $30 million in Series B funding to accelerate its expansion and revolutionize digital services across the region. This funding round, which includes both equity and debt, was led by SAS Shipping Agencies Services Sàrl (a subsidiary of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA) and Al Mada Ventures.

Strategic Investment for Growth

The investment marks a significant milestone for Gozem, enabling it to expand its services across West and Central Africa, enhance its transport offerings, and launch its innovative digital banking service, Gozem Money.

Gozem has evolved from a simple moto-taxi service in 2018 into a comprehensive Super App operating in Togo, Benin, Gabon, and Cameroon. The platform integrates multiple services, including:

Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ New Year!
  • Ride-hailing (moto, tricycle, and car)
  • Food and supermarket delivery
  • Digital ticketing
  • Vehicle financing
  • Digital banking services

With this new funding, Gozem plans to finance more brand-new vehicles for taxi drivers, improve customer experiences, and strengthen its fintech ecosystem.

This latest investment follows Gozem’s $5 million Series A round (read here) which helped fuel its earlier expansion and service diversification efforts. The company has steadily positioned itself as a dominant force in the Francophone African Super App space, a model that has been gaining traction across Africa. Similar innovations have been seen with companies like Gokada, which introduced a Super App integrating food delivery, eCommerce, and ride-hailing in Nigeria (more on Gokada’s expansion).

Industry Leaders Back Gozem’s Vision

Gozem’s funding round attracted key strategic investors with deep expertise in African logistics and financial services.

Diego Aponte, President of MSC Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to Africa, stating:

“Gozem is an exceptional company that aligns perfectly with MSC Group's dedication to Africa and its focus on developing innovative mobility and logistics solutions to boost trade. We are happy to accompany them on their journey and look forward to collaborating in the markets we both share across West and Central Africa.”

Omar Laalej, Managing Director at Al Mada Ventures, praised Gozem’s technology-driven approach:

“As we continue to observe the evolution of the population’s demand towards technology-enabled mobility services, Gozem stands out with its inclusive, reliable, and easy-to-use Super App model. We are very excited to back Gregory, Raphael, and the entire Gozem team in their expansion plans.”

About the Investors

MSC Group is the world’s leading container shipping company, operating in 45 African countries and serving 65 ports. Al Mada Ventures is a venture capital firm investing in scalable startups across Africa. Their expertise in logistics and finance will play a key role in Gozem’s growth.

The Future of Gozem

With this Series B funding, Gozem is well-positioned to expand its footprint, strengthen its logistics network, and provide enhanced financial services to millions of users. The company has already attracted over 1 million registered users who have completed more than 30 million trips and orders since 2018.

The upcoming launch of Gozem Money is expected to further drive financial inclusion, offering digital banking solutions tailored to Francophone Africa’s growing demand for fintech services. As investment in African startups continues to rise, Gozem’s success aligns with broader trends, such as the recent $800K investment by Madica in African startups focused on mobility, AI, and health tech (read more).

Moreover, Gozem’s growth and the increasing investor interest in African digital solutions reflect the broader opportunities highlighted at industry gatherings like the 12th Sankalp Africa Summit, where billions in investment opportunities for African startups were discussed (details on the summit).
