Stanbic Bank to Pause All Services for Early Morning Maintenance on May 17

For those planning to handle any banking business with Stanbic Bank Kenya this Saturday morning, you might want to set a reminder — or better yet, wrap it up before the rooster crows.

Stanbic has just sent out a text alert to customers, warning of a scheduled system maintenance window this Saturday, 17 May, from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM. That’s a tight four-hour stretch when all banking channels — including mobile banking, ATMs, online platforms, and maybe even in-branch systems — will be taking a nap.

"As part of our commitment to reliable service, we will be carrying out routine system maintenance on Saturday, 17 May, from 3 AM to 7 AM. During this time, all our banking channels will be temporarily unavailable. We appreciate your patience and thank you for choosing to bank with us."

While this may sound like a minor hiccup, it’s good to plan ahead — especially if you’re the kind of person who sends emergency M-PESA top-ups, checks balances before dawn, or simply likes knowing your money is just a tap away. And hey, if you’ll be out clubbing Friday night, maybe settle your bills early — or at least move some cash to M-PESA/Airtel Money or withdraw enough to avoid that awkward moment at the counter. No one wants to get locked up in a bar over unpaid drinks!

The bank says the move is part of its commitment to delivering reliable service, and honestly, a bit of maintenance is better than a surprise outage later, right?

So whether you’re headed out for a weekend getaway or planning some early morning online shopping, make sure your banking needs are sorted before 3 AM on Saturday. After 7 AM, everything should be back to normal — hopefully, with fewer bugs and smoother transactions.
