Since April 2025, TECNO has been rolling out Android 15 to its CAMON 30 series via HiOS 15βbut letβs just say, the road has been a little…bumpy. What should have been a sleek, stable software upgrade has turned into a frustrating mix of glitches, overheating, and inconsistent performance for many users across the globe.
Although TECNO officially announced the update in mid-May, users in the Philippines were among the first to receive HiOS 15.0.2 as early as April. And with it came the March 2025 security patchβand a buffet of bugs. Now, in June, TECNO is pushing out a newer build, HiOS 15.0.3, bundling the May security update. This build is hitting CAMON 30 devices in waves, depending on whether you already upgraded or are just getting Android 15 now.

But does this new update fix the earlier mess? Not quite.
Reddit has been buzzing with CAMON 30 users sharing their not-so-smooth experiences. From refresh rate issues where apps stubbornly refuse to go beyond 60Hzβeven when set to 120Hzβto overheating and poor battery life, the complaints are stacking up. This wasn’t a problem on HiOS 14, but now most apps are capped at 60Hz.
Another user shared their frustration with audio bugsβvolume buttons that randomly pause videos, speakers misbehaving, and sound disappearing mid-call when using pop-up chat features. And yes, some couldnβt even swipe down the notification panel unless the phone was locked.

And itβs not just performance bugs. There’s the awkward case of users being prompted to reinstall the same version they already have (CL6-15.0.3.127), making many wonder if their phones are caught in a software time loop. Others report UI glitches, slow animations, and system features behaving inconsistently.
On the bright side, a few users noted smoother animations, a fresher design, and new personalization featuresβparticularly on the 5G models. There’s a new iOS-style theme, AI features, and a tweaked notification panel. But the praise is mild, often overshadowed by remarks like, βGreat update, terrible battery life,β or βHad to factory reset just to make the phone usable again.β
As TECNO pushes to complete its Android 15 rollout by early July, users are hoping the company will iron out the wrinkles in HiOS 15.0.3βor better yet, fast-track a more stable 15.0.4.
For a brand promising a β3-year, 2-generationβ Android upgrade path, the CAMON 30 series rollout so far feels like a work-in-progress beta more than a polished release. And as the foldables still sit untouched on Android 14 in most regions, TECNO fans might be wondering: is the future update-proof, or just another patch job waiting to happen?
