Samsung is once again flexing its software muscles in Kenya, rolling out the latest July 2025 security patch to a total of 10 Galaxy A-series devices. And yes, the budget ones are included too.
If you’re using a Galaxy A56, A55, A54, A53, A36, A35, A34, A05, or A06 4G, there’s a good chance your phone is already showing a “software update available” notification. And while this isn’t the kind of update that brings new One UI features or dramatic redesigns, it does come with the usual suspects: security improvements, bug fixes, and overall stability boosts, which are all crucial for keeping your phone running smoothly.
The Galaxy A06 5G variant is instead receiving the June patch, so it’s just slightly behind. But hey, it’s still in the game.
The best part? Every single one of these devices is already running Android 15 with One UI 7 on top. That includes even the more affordable models like the A05 and A06, showing just how serious Samsung is about treating all Galaxy owners equally.
Behind the scenes, this update does more than you might think. According to Samsung’s official bulletin, the July 2025 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) includes critical and high-level vulnerability fixes from both Google and Samsung, making this patch a must-install.
Here’s a quick look at what’s been tackled:
Google Security Patches
- 1 critical vulnerability (CVE-2025-21450) fixed — the kind that can potentially allow remote code execution.
- 20+ high-severity bugs plugged, including issues with system permissions, media frameworks, and Android core functions.
Samsung-Specific Fixes (SVEs)
Samsung added fixes for 18 of its own security vulnerabilities. Highlights include:
- A high-severity bug in KnoxVault, where hackers could overwrite memory.
- Fixes for Bluetooth privilege issues that could let someone silently enable Bluetooth without your consent.
- Emergency SOS privacy patch to stop sensitive info from being stored insecurely.
- LeAudio broadcasting controls tightened, so no one can hijack your Auracast stream.
Even though most of these vulnerabilities require local access or special conditions to exploit, patching them early ensures no one can use them down the line. Think of it like sealing up tiny cracks before they become big problems.
So, if you haven’t already, head over to Settings > Software Update > Download and install.
