X Fixes Duplicate Posts Bug on Android, Promises More Fixes Ahead

If you’ve ever scrolled through your X timeline and thought, “Wait… didn’t I just see this post?” — you’re not crazy. For years, users have been dealing with an annoying glitch that made posts show up more than once. Now, Nikita Bier, X’s Head of Product, says the bug has finally been squashed.

“After many years, we finally fixed a bug on Android where you would see the same post multiple times. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Nikita posted yesterday. A simple message, but for Android users, it’s huge.

But here’s where it gets interesting: last month, we reported on another glitch where replies themselves were duplicating (yes, whole conversations echoing back at you). Now, the big question is does Nikita’s fix also cover this replies issue?

Here’s a screenshot showing duplicate replies on X for Android app.

I want to believe it does. After all, users have been lumping both bugs into the same “duplicate content” headache. Personally, I’ve mostly dealt with the duplicate replies side of things, and as of this week, I still catch it now and then. Maybe the fix is rolling out gradually, much like the earlier auto-refresh bugfix that hit iOS users in phases.

And speaking of Android, Nikita has also teased that more quality-of-life improvements are coming our way. No dates yet, but X isn’t just patching up bugs. The company is rebuilding the entire Android app from the ground up. A whole new team is being hired to work on this massive overhaul.

So, if you’re still spotting duplicate replies or haven’t noticed a change yet, don’t panic. A smoother, cleaner, less buggy X experience is (hopefully) on the horizon.
