Earlier this year, OPPO treated Kenyan shoppers to the OPPO A5 and OPPO A5 Pro – two surprisingly rugged devices that didn’t just survive drops, splashes, and rough handling but actually leaned into that identity. The A5 came with its chunky battery and solid build for KES 21,999, while the A5 Pro (KES 29,999) added military-grade durability and IP69 water protection to the mix.
Now, OPPO is back with their successors – the OPPO A6 and OPPO A6 Pro – officially launched in China this week. And if the A5 series felt tough, this new duo looks like it just signed up for boot camp.
Meet the A6 Pro – the “Durable New Generation”
The star of the launch is without doubt the OPPO A6 Pro. OPPO is calling it a “durable new generation,” and it’s easy to see why. This is one of the very few smartphones boasting triple waterproof certifications (IP66, IP68, and IP69). That means it can survive splashes, full immersion, high-pressure jets of water, and even hot water. Basically, it’s daring you to try breaking it.

And if you drop it? The Pro packs an aviation-grade alloy frame and OPPO’s Crystal Shield glass, forming what the company calls a super drop-resistant diamond architecture. It’s been tested against military-standard impact scenarios, so it’s not just marketing talk.
But it’s not all about toughness. The A6 Pro features a 6.57-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED flat display. OPPO cheekily notes it’s the “only small straight screen in its class” making it compact, sharp, and very smooth. Under the hood sits the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Battery life? Brace yourself. It has a massive 7,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. OPPO is promising “one charge for a day, one battery for six years.” Bold claim, but we’ll take it.
On the camera side, the A6 Pro keeps things simple: 50MP main shooter + 2MP depth on the back, and a 16MP selfie camera up front.
The OPPO A6 Pro price in China starts at 1,799 yuan (~KES 33,000) for the base 8GB/256GB model, going up to 2,499 yuan (~KES 45,000) for the top 16GB/512GB version.

The OPPO A6 launching later this month
If the A6 Pro feels like too much, OPPO has a regular A6 waiting in the wings. Scheduled to hit shelves in China on September 30th, it will also come with IP69 protection, the same diamond drop-resistant design, and what OPPO calls a “six-year longevity battery.”

We don’t yet have full specs, but it’s clearly built to be a slightly more affordable option while keeping the focus on durability and battery endurance. Color options here include Pink Dream Flower, Blue Ocean Floating Light, and Velvet Gray.
Will the OPPO A6 and A6 Pro come to Kenya?
If you’ve been following OPPO’s playbook here, the answer looks very likely. The A5 and A5 Pro arrived in Kenya a couple of months after their China debuts, and OPPO Kenya has been quick to refresh its rugged midrange lineup. If history repeats, we could see the A6 series in Kenyan stores by late 2025 or early 2026.
For Kenyan buyers, the A6 Pro could be especially exciting. A phone that shrugs off drops, rain, muddy football pitches, or even the occasional basin accident at home, all while offering a giant 7,000mAh battery? That’s the kind of practicality our market loves.
We’ll be keeping an eye on OPPO Kenya for local launch announcements. For now, just know that the A6 and A6 Pro are real, official, and tougher than ever.
Would you buy a phone that can survive hot water? Let’s see how OPPO prices these beasts once they leave China.
