Infinix XPAD 20 Lands in Kenya at Just KES 15,100

Infinix has just dropped the XPAD 20 in Kenya, and if you’ve been following their social media pages, you’ve probably noticed the hype. At KES 15,100, this is a tablet that’s clearly not aiming to square off with the big boys like the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra or even the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+. Instead, Infinix is cheekily sliding into the budget-friendly lane, eyeing rivals like the Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2.

The Display and Design

The XPAD 20 comes with an 11-inch FHD+ display, pushing 90Hz refresh rate and hitting 440 nits brightness akin to its predecessor. It’s not mind-blowing, but it’s definitely enough for Netflix binges, study sessions, or doomscrolling on TikTok. Infinix also throws in TÜV Rheinland-certified Eye Care, which means less guilt about straining your eyes.

Colour-wise, you don’t just get the boring greys. Infinix is bringing some personality here: Stellar Grey, Forest Green, Dreamy Purple, and Rising Red. Rising Red, in particular, is being marketed as eco-friendly with a child-safe finish.

The AI Push with Folax & More

What makes the Infinix XPAD 20 a little different from your average budget tablet is how Infinix is betting on AI to sell it. You get “Hi Folax”, your very own voice assistant powered by ChatGPT. Folax isn’t just about reminders and weather updates. It comes with real-time translation for text, voice, and even images. Yes, you can point your camera at a foreign menu and figure out what’s for dinner.

And if you’re the creative type, the XPAD 20 ships with Replit AI tools pre-installed. You can literally tell it to “build me a habit tracker app” and it will try to make it happen. A fun way to dip your toes into coding without needing to touch actual code.

Under the Hood

Here’s where the XPAD 20 shows its budget DNA. Infinix has gone with the MediaTek Helio G88, paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage (expandable to 1TB). It’s not a powerhouse, but it’s decent for multitasking, light gaming, and everyday tasks. You’re also looking at a 7000mAh battery, same as last year’s XPAD, but this time charging has been dialed back to 10W (compared to 18W on the original XPAD). So yes, charging will be slower, but at this price point, compromises had to be made.

Camera-wise, you get an 8MP rear and 5MP front camera, with flashes on both ends. Definitely not for photography enthusiasts, but more than enough for Zoom classes, quick video calls, and scanning documents.

Infinix XPAD 20 vs XPAD: What’s New?

If you remember Infinix’s first tablet, the Infinix XPAD, it came with the slightly more powerful Helio G99, 18W charging, and an 8MP selfie camera. The new XPAD 20, however, shifts its focus by trading some raw specs for better AI integration, Android 15 out of the box, and a broader range of colours.

Both devices have the same 11-inch display and 7000mAh battery, so performance will feel similar, but the XPAD 20 leans more toward being your AI buddy rather than just a productivity slate.

Competition Check: Xiaomi’s Redmi Pad 2

The more direct fight is with the Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2, which is selling for KES 20,999 in Kenya. Xiaomi’s tablet does have stronger performance, especially for gaming, but Infinix is banking on affordability and AI smarts to lure buyers. For parents looking for a student-friendly tablet, or anyone wanting a reliable secondary screen without breaking the bank, the XPAD 20 might just make more sense.

As noted, the Infinix XPAD 20 is clearly not here to challenge Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra or even pretend to be a productivity monster. What it is, though, is a fun, AI-friendly, budget tablet with a playful colour palette and enough specs to keep most casual users satisfied.

At KES 15,100, it’s a steal if all you want is a dependable tablet for streaming, studying, light gaming, or experimenting with AI tools without burning a hole in your pocket.
