If you’re an OPPO user, September is bringing more than just changing weather. It’s also bringing fresh features and polish to your phone with the latest ColorOS update. The rollout started September 8 and will run until September 30, landing on select flagship and Reno devices.
Map Album: Where Memories Meet Maps
The star of this month’s update is Map Album. Imagine scrolling through your photos and, instead of just seeing that random beach shot or rooftop selfie, you also see where it happened on a map. That’s exactly what Map Album does. It takes your photo library and pins it to locations, giving your memories a bit of geography. No more guessing whether that nyama choma snap was in Kajiado or Naivasha. Your phone will remember.

The feature is rolling out to devices on ColorOS 13 and later, so if you’re rocking something older, this might be the nudge you need to finally consider an upgrade.
Smarter Phone Manager & Privacy Upgrades
But OPPO isn’t stopping at photos. This month’s update also wants to make you a little more mindful of your screen time. The Phone Manager app now shows your daily and weekly screen usage stats, perfect for realizing that yes, TikTok did swallow five hours of your day (again).
On the privacy side, OPPO has slipped in two nifty tricks:
- Private Safe passwords can now be changed for each secondary page.
- Locked albums in the Photos app also get the same password flexibility.
And if you’ve ever hidden photos in the Private Album but then had trouble relocating them, there’s good news. Moving them back to public now restores them to their original spots.
Small Touches, Big Wins
Not everything is headline-grabbing, but the smaller improvements are the kind you notice every day. System stability has gotten its routine tune-up, because no one complains about fewer bugs. The remote control panel layout (when using your phone as an IR remote) has been rearranged for easier navigation. And lock-screen Live Alerts and notifications now animate more smoothly when tapped. Subtle, but satisfying.
OPPO Devices Getting the September ColorOS Update
As usual, OPPO is rolling this out in stages. So if your friend’s Reno14 Pro already got the update and you’re still waiting, don’t panic. It’s on the way. Here’s the list of phones scheduled to receive it this month:
- OPPO Find N5
- OPPO Find N3 / N3 Flip
- OPPO Find X8 / X8 Pro
- OPPO Reno14 / Reno14 Pro
- OPPO Reno13 / Reno13 Pro
- OPPO Reno12 / Reno12 Pro
- OPPO Reno11 / Reno11 Pro
The rollout began on September 8 and will wrap up by September 30, so everyone in the batch should be covered by the end of the month.
