Vivo fans, we finally have some clarity on OriginOS Global, and it’s a mix of good and “meh” news. After months of silence, Vivo India has now teased that OriginOS 6 is making its way to India and global markets, with registrations for the beta opening September 29th. The first devices in line? The iQOO 13 and the Vivo X200 Pro.
Sounds exciting, right? Well… not so fast.
If you’ve been following the Chinese version of OriginOS, you know it’s a playground of features with sleek animations, deep customization, and a UI that feels like Android done differently. Sadly, the global rollout won’t carry that same energy. And we knew this would be the case.
Instead, we’re looking at what’s essentially a watered-down version, much like what Xiaomi does with HyperOS Global compared to HyperOS China. Think of it as FuntouchOS with a fresh coat of paint. Yes, there will be some goodies like a revamped Control Center, new fonts, themes, and smoother animations, but that’s about it.
So if you were hoping for the full OriginOS China experience… brace yourself for a lighter, simpler package.
Stable release? Not anytime soon
The global beta kicks off next month, but don’t expect a stable version right away. Vivo is reportedly holding that back until the launch of the X300 series globally. That means most of us won’t see a proper OriginOS 6 update until much later this year or early next year, depending on your region.
And in Kenya? The Vivo V60 5G is already here

While global users wait on OriginOS drama, Vivo has quietly been expanding its device lineup in markets like Kenya. The Vivo V60 5G recently landed locally, bringing with it a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, and a 120 Hz refresh rate — not bad for a mid-ranger. It’s retailing at KES 63,999, which positions it as a premium pick for anyone looking for sleek design and future-proof 5G support.
And yes, when (or if) OriginOS 6 Global makes its way here, the V60 5G should eventually be on the list of devices to benefit from the update. But given how Vivo rolls out software, patience will be key.
Sure, OriginOS Global is real, and it’s finally launching beyond China. But it won’t be the bold, feature-packed UI Vivo fans might have been dreaming of. Instead, it feels like a careful rebrand of FuntouchOS, with just enough tweaks to look fresh.
Still, progress is progress. And for anyone rocking a Vivo or iQOO device outside China, it’s at least a sign that the company hasn’t forgotten about us.
