Xiaomi Kenya has quietly kicked off sales of the Redmi 15 4G, days after teasing its arrival on September 25. The phone is now available on Jumia Kenya, priced at KES 17,050 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model and KES 18,960 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB variant.

If you buy from the official Xiaomi Store on Jumia, you also walk away with a 2-year warranty and a free power bank with every purchase.

Yes, a power bank… for a phone that already ships with a 7,000mAh battery. So you’re basically getting a power bank for your power bank. Interesting choice, Xiaomi. Maybe Redmi Buds or even a fitness tracker would’ve made more sense.

The Redmi 15 4G arrives just after the local debut of its understudy, the Redmi 15C, which is positioned slightly lower on the ladder. Here’s how the Redmi 15C is priced in Kenya:

-Ad- Infinix HOT 60i!
  • 4GB + 128GB – KES 11,999
  • 6GB + 128GB – KES 14,099
  • 8GB + 256GB – KES 16,599

Unlike the Redmi 15, the Redmi 15C comes with free Redmi Buds 6 Play in addition to a 2-year warranty, and it compares well to the Infinix HOT 60i. So Xiaomi is giving earphones to the cheaper model and a power bank to the one with the monster battery. Make of that what you will.

Still, the Redmi 15 clearly justifies its price bump with features the 15C doesn’t bother with. You’re getting a 6.9-inch FHD+ display with up to 144Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate, a sturdier IP64 dust and water resistance rating, and a much larger 7,000mAh battery with the same 33W fast wired charging and faster 18W reverse charging. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 685 chip built on a power-efficient 6nm process, with support for up to 16GB RAM via memory extension.

It also ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 with a promise to get HyperOS 3 update, a 50MP dual rear camera, Dolby Atmos audio, and extras like NFC, an IR blaster, and side fingerprint unlock. The phone comes in Sandy Purple, Titan Gray, and Midnight Black, and supports storage expansion up to 2TB via microSD.

For anyone comparing, the Redmi 15C is cheaper and comes with earbuds, but it doesn’t match the Redmi 15 on battery life, display tech, refresh rate, build quality, or charging speeds. The vanilla Redmi 15 is clearly the main event, while the 15C plays backup for shoppers working within tighter budgets.

In short, Kenyans now have two fresh Redmi options sitting under the 20K mark. And if your love language is battery life, the Redmi 15 4G is already speaking to you.
