Safaricom Pitches Its Managed Security Center to Enterprise IT Leaders

In Nairobi, Safaricom Business gathered over 50 senior IT and security executives for a private cybersecurity session, positioning its Managed Security Operations Centre (MSOC) as a key tool for enterprise resilience. The event, held ahead of the company’s own Cybersecurity Summit, focused on how organizations can better detect and respond to the growing volume of digital threats.

Safaricom executives emphasized that security is now a core business continuity issue, not a secondary concern. The Communications Authority of Kenya reported a massive surge in cyberattacks this year, logging 4.6 billion threats in the second quarter alone, driven largely by system vulnerabilities, poor patching, and AI-powered attacks.

Attendees were given a detailed look inside the MSOC, which Safaricom claims empowers businesses with analytics-driven monitoring and real-time threat response. The session included live threat simulations to demonstrate the platform’s capabilities.

Frankline Okata, Safaricom’s Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer, stressed the need for early identification and decisive response to threats. Nicholas Mulila, Chief Corporate Security Officer, highlighted the accelerating threat landscape in Kenya, citing a rise in ransomware, phishing, and insider attacks targeting local enterprises. The message was clear: in today’s environment, it’s not a matter of if a business will be targeted, but when.

The meeting serves as a prelude to the larger Safaricom Cybersecurity Summit 2025 scheduled for October 16, which will host over 450 industry figures to discuss securing digital growth.
