Samsung is clearly on a mission this week, and East Africa is right at the center of it. After yesterday’s wave of One UI 8 updates hitting the Galaxy A35, A34, A26, and A15 5G, the company isn’t slowing down. The latest to join the Android 16 party are the Galaxy A55, Galaxy S22 series, and the Galaxy Tab S10 family. Yes, all of them.
According to firmware files now live on Samsung’s servers, the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy A55 is rolling out as version A556EXXUACYIA. It’s an OTA (over-the-air) update, which means not everyone in the region will see the download prompt immediately. But the wait shouldn’t be long. So if you’re in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, DRC, Seychelles, Djibouti, Rwanda, or Somalia, a quick tap on “Software update” in your settings might just surprise you.
As is Samsung tradition, the rollout is staggered. Translation? Patience is key. The notification could land today, tomorrow, or later in the week. Either way, the One UI 8 firmware based on Android 16 is officially out for the Galaxy A55 across the region.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. The Galaxy S22 series (yes, the entire lineup) is also getting the One UI 8 treatment under build number GYIF. And for tablet users, Samsung hasn’t forgotten you either. The Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S10+, and Tab S10 Ultra are all receiving the new update as build CYI5. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ join in with build BYI7.
All these firmwares were uploaded to Samsung’s servers earlier today, confirming that the wider rollout is imminent across East Africa. Once the OTA update begins to land on devices, users can expect the usual dose of Android 16 goodness, combined with Samsung’s signature One UI 8 refinements — think smarter personalization, smoother animations, and deeper AI integration across apps and settings.
For those who love getting ahead of the curve, you can manually check for the update via Settings → Software update → Download and install. If it’s not available yet, give it a day or two; Samsung’s servers are working overtime this week.
With this pace, Samsung’s rollout strategy for Android 16 (One UI 8) is shaping up to be one of the company’s fastest and most coordinated across the region. And we’re absolutely here for it.
