Samsung has flipped the Android 16 switch for the Galaxy A73 5G in several markets, and the rollout is already picking up steam. Users in the Philippines, Netherlands, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia are currently receiving the One UI 8 update, complete with firmware version A736BXXUAGYJ1 and the September 2025 security patch.
Unfortunately, Kenya isn’t on the list yet even though the Galaxy A73 5G is officially sold locally. So if you’ve been checking your Software Update section every morning over tea, don’t worry. You’re not alone. The rollout is global and gradual, so East Africa should be next in line.

There’s no firmware for the Kenyan variant yet. But with five countries already receiving it, the local rollout could happen any time now. Samsung typically pushes updates in waves, so it’s just a waiting game.
Once it lands, you’ll be able to check manually via: Settings → Software update → Download and install.
We’ll keep an eye on the rollout and update you when Kenyan and East African users start seeing the notification. And if you’re among the lucky first, feel free to gloat, we support it.
