Google Photos might be getting a fun new AI feature called “Me Meme” — yes, you read that right. The feature, spotted in version 7.51.0 of the app, lets users place their faces into popular meme templates using generative AI.
According to code strings discovered in the latest build, “Me Meme” will allow you to pick a meme template, select a backed-up reference photo (ideally a clear selfie), and generate a personalized meme. The resulting images are meant for quick sharing, whether in group chats or on social media.

Unsurprisingly, the feature requires your reference photo to be backed up to Google Photos, likely because the AI model runs in the cloud. Early clues also show that Google recommends using selfies for the best results.
Right now, the feature isn’t live. The only known meme template shown so far is the classic “This is fine” dog meme, and it’s unclear whether users will be able to upload their own templates.
Interestingly, Google is also testing a similar AI meme generator for Gboard, though that too hasn’t rolled out publicly. If and when “Me Meme” arrives, it’ll add yet another playful AI tool to Google Photos, which has already seen features like the AI-powered video generator and Nano Banana integration in development.
