OPPO has officially brought its latest flagship, the OPPO Find X9, to the Kenyan market. Arriving as a direct competitor to the high-end Android segment, the device brings a heavy focus on mobile photography via Hasselblad, a massive silicon-carbon battery, and deep AI integration.
The OPPO Find X9 is available starting today, priced at KES 139,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration. This is the same launch price as the OPPO Find X8 from last year, only that the Find X9 is much better and more powerful than its predecessor. You also get a free pair of OPPO Enco Buds 3 with every Find X9 purchase.
Design and display
The Find X9 continues OPPO’s trend of premium builds, featuring an aerospace-grade aluminum frame and incredibly thin, uniform 1.15mm bezels. Perhaps most impressive is the durability rating; the device carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications, making it highly resistant to water jets and submersion.
On the side of the device, OPPO has introduced a customizable Snap Key. Similar to recent hardware trends, this button allows users to instantly launch the camera, AI Mind Space, or toggle settings like the torch, all with pressure-sensitive controls.
The front is dominated by a 6.59-inch 120Hz ProXDR AMOLED display with a resolution of 2760 × 1256. It hits a peak brightness of 3600 nits, ensuring visibility in direct Kenyan sunlight, and supports “Splash Touch” for usability in the rain.
The Hasselblad master camera system
OPPO is doubling down on its partnership with Hasselblad. The Find X9 features a “Triple 50MP” setup:
- Main: 50MP (1/1.4″ sensor) with f/1.6 aperture and OIS.
- Periscope telephoto: 50MP (1/1.95″ sensor) with OIS, capable of 120x digital “Super Zoom.”
- Ultra-wide: 50MP with a 120° field of view.
Video capabilities are substantial, with support for 4K at 120fps with Dolby Vision recording across the board. For pro-users, the phone supports LOG recording in the BT.2020 colour space.
Performance and battery life
Under the hood, the Find X9 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, a 3nm chip that OPPO and MediaTek claim delivers significant CPU and GPU gains over the previous generation Dimensity 9400.
However, the headline feature is arguably the battery. Using silicon-carbon anode technology, OPPO has fitted a massive 7,025 mAh battery into a phone that is only 7.99mm thick. It supports 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging. Even though the chatter is mostly around the Find X9 Pro, early impressions suggest the Find X9 guarantees a 2-day battery life.
ColorOS 16 and AI
The phone ships with ColorOS 16 based on the latest Android 16 from Google, which includes the “Trinity Engine” for performance scheduling. OPPO is also heavily marketing cross-platform compatibility, claiming the device can break down barriers to the Apple ecosystem with “Touch to Share” for file transfers between OPPO and Apple devices, and mirroring capabilities with Macs.
Google’s Gemini Live is integrated directly into the system, allowing for conversational AI interaction and screen context awareness.
