The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has quietly updated its systems in preparation for the upcoming national exam announcement. As of this writing, the KNEC portal for checking KCSE results 2025 is technically live, signaling that the official release is imminent.
While the URL is accessible, students and parents shouldn’t panic just yet—the actual results have not been uploaded.
A spot check confirms that the results page is loading, but users are greeted with a disclaimer noting that the system is in a holding pattern. The specific message on the landing page reads: “The 2025 KCSE Examination Provisional Results will be available after Official release.”

Why is the portal active now?
This is a standard procedure for the council. By activating the KNEC portal early, the IT team is likely testing server load capacity and ensuring the interface is bug-free before the massive influx of traffic that’ll occur when the KCSE results 2025 are officially announced.
In previous years, the sudden surge of tens of thousands of users—including candidates, schools, and parents—simultaneously attempting to access the site has led to downtime and technical glitches. Pre-activating the frontend allows KNEC to mitigate these delays.
When will KCSE 2025 results be released?
Despite viral rumors suggesting the results were out earlier this week, claims that Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba flagged as “fake and misleading”, the official announcement is still pending.
CS Ogamba reportedly clarified the timeline, stating that the results would be released within the next two weeks. This aligns with the traditional January release window for the examination, which concluded on November 21, 2025.
How to check your KCSE 2025 results
Once the Ministry of Education gives the green light, the process will remain digital-first.
- Visit the portal: Go to the official KNEC results website.
- Enter details: You will need to input your Index Number and the Examination Year (2025).
- View results: The system will display the provisional results slip.
For now, the active link serves as a placeholder, confirming that the backend work is complete and the announcement is just around the corner.
