As the door officially closes on Hawkins with the final season of Stranger Things, Samsung and Netflix are giving fans one last way to carry the Upside Down in their pocket. Starting yesterday, January 12, Samsung Galaxy users in Kenya (and 185 other countries) can grab an exclusive Stranger Things theme and wallpaper collection for free.
Here’s a look at what’s included and how to get it on your Galaxy device.
The ‘Stranger Things’ collection
The new content arrives just as the hype for Season 5 hits its peak—following a record-breaking opening for Part 1 in November 2025. Samsung says the collection is designed to help fans “celebrate the final season” with visuals that reflect the show’s “unique atmosphere.”
The drop includes:
- 1 exclusive theme: A complete UI overhaul featuring “iconic imagery” from the show. Expect dark, moody aesthetics likely inspired by the Upside Down and the neon-soaked vibes of the series.
- 5 wallpapers: High-quality backgrounds featuring live-action characters and key settings like Hawkins.
This isn’t the first time the two giants have teamed up; they previously collaborated for Stranger Things Season 4 and the KPop Demon Hunters movie. However, this specific drop is strictly limited-time, running only from January 12 through February 22, 2026.
How to download
While the content is free, it’s “locked” behind a specific requirement: you must be a Netflix subscriber (or at least have the app).
To unlock the download in the Galaxy Store:
- Ensure you have the Netflix app installed on your Samsung phone.
- Launch the Netflix app at least once (this acts as the ‘key’ to unlock the promo).
- Head to the Galaxy Store and search for the Stranger Things banner or theme.
Note: If you don’t see it immediately, try opening the Netflix app again and ensuring it is updated.
Compatibility and requirements
Before you rush to the store, check your Android version. Samsung has split the compatibility for the theme and the wallpapers:
- Full theme: Requires Android 15 or 16. This means you’ll need a fairly recent device running One UI 7 or the newly rolling out One UI 8.
- Wallpapers: Much more accessible. These work on any Galaxy smartphone running Android 8 (Oreo) or later.
Stranger Things remains a cultural juggernaut. Season 5, Part 1 ranked No. 1 in 91 countries and pulled in nearly 60 million views in its first five days. For Samsung, this is a smart way to leverage that massive engagement to drive traffic to the Galaxy Store, which often plays second fiddle to the Google Play Store.
For users, it’s a high-quality, official customization pack for free in what is a rare find in an era of paid icon packs and premium themes.
Availability: The collection is live now and disappears after February 22, 2026.
