OPPO’s August ColorOS 16 update is out, and only 13 phones are getting it

OPPO started pushing the August update for ColorOS 16 on 1 August 2026 and is finishing the rollout by 31 August. It goes to 13 phones across the Find and Reno lines, and it adds five things: the AI Remix Collage tool from the Reno16 series, a live currency converter widget, a two-finger pinch that clears every notification badge on the home screen at once, drawing and annotation on images inside Notes, and a Phone Manager that watches for badly behaved apps.

ColorOS is OPPO’s version of Android. ColorOS 16 is built on Android 16, and OPPO began shipping it to existing phones in November 2025. We published the full global rollout schedule when it started, and covered the one feature nobody expected, which lets an OPPO phone answer calls and texts arriving on a paired iPhone. Monthly updates like this one are how OPPO adds features between major versions.

What the update does

AI Remix Collage is the biggest of the five. It uses Smart Cutout to lift a subject out of a photo, then builds sticker sets, collages and mood boards from the cut-outs, with outline styles and layer controls you can adjust. It shipped first on the Reno16 series and this update opens it to the rest of the list.

The Phone Manager changes are the ones worth taking into consideration. OPPO says it can now spot and stop suspicious app behaviour as it happens, naming malicious pop-ups, abnormal battery drain and apps attempting unusual control of the device, and it alerts you when it blocks something. Storage Cleanup has been reorganised into clearer categories, Phone Manager’s shortcut row is now editable, and hidden apps can be opened in a floating window with a swipe.

The currency converter widget comes in 2×2 and 4×2 sizes and pulls live rates onto the home screen. The badge gesture clears the little red counters on app icons without deleting the notifications themselves. In Notes, you can now draw on, highlight and annotate an image instead of only attaching it.

The 13 phones

Find N6, Find N5, Find X9 Ultra, Find X9 Pro, Find X9s, Find X9, Find X8 Pro, Find X8, Reno16 Pro 5G, Reno16 5G, Reno15 Pro 5G, Reno15 5G and Reno15 4G. OPPO says availability varies by model and region, so the update reaching one country does not mean it has reached the next.

What that means in Kenya

The Find X9 went on sale here at KES 139,999 in November 2025, and the Reno15 5G and Reno15 Pro 5G arrived in January 2026. The Find X9 Ultra is on the list too.

The Reno15 F 5G is not on the list. It is the cheapest phone in the Reno 15 range in Kenya, listed by local retailers at about KES 54,500, and it ships with ColorOS 16 already. Neither are any of OPPO’s A series phones, which is where most OPPO sales in Kenya actually happen. Those phones are still on the older ColorOS 16 build they launched with; OPPO has not said when or whether the August features reach them.
