Tecno has put the Megapad SE 2 on sale in the Philippines. This is an Android tablet with a 9.7-inch screen, 4G LTE, 4GB+128GG, starting at at PHP 11,999, about USD 192 or KES 24,900. The 256GB model costs PHP 13,999. Tecno has not published an SE 2 page on its global site yet, so we aren’t sure if we’ll see this outside the Philippines.
The screen is the best part of the budget tablet. A9.7-inch IPS panel at 2048 x 1280, refreshing at 90Hz and reaching 550 nits of brightness, with TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification are quite the numbers for USD 190.
Powering the tablet is MediaTek’s Helio G88 chip with 4GB of RAM, which the software can extend with another 4GB borrowed from storage, and a microSD slot that takes cards up to 2TB.
The 7,000mAh battery charges at 18W over USB-C. There is an 8MP camera on each side, dual speakers, and a single nano-SIM slot for 4G data and calls. The whole thing is 7.9mm thick and weighs 387g, and it ships in Deep Grey, Sandy Titanium and Iris Purple.
It runs HiOS 16 on top of Android 16, and Tecno has loaded it with the AI features: an AI learning assistant, AI translation, AI image generation and the LearnUp study tools.

Tecno is pitching the tablet at students and families, which is where the LTE SIM card slot comes in. Children can use it for online classes without needing home Wi-Fi.
Upgrade or follow up?
In 2025, Tecno brought the MegaPad SE, an 11-inch tablet costing KES 18,999 to Kenya. The SE 2 may suggest this is a follow up. It isn’t.
The SE 2 is a smaller and lighter device that trades some of the original’s hardware away. The screen shrinks from 11 inches to 9.7 but gets sharper and brighter. The chip steps down from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 685 to the older Helio G88. The battery drops from 8,000mAh to 7,000mAh, and the original’s four Dolby Atmos speakers become two. In exchange, the SE 2 gets Android 16 instead of Android 15, a better 8MP front camera, and a body over 100g lighter.
Tecno, part of China’s Transsion group alongside Infinix and itel, has now shipped four Megapad tablets in about ten months: the SE, the Megapad 2, the Megapad Pro and this SE 2. It’s a pace and saturation that mirrors the strategy that made Transsion phones dominant in Africa.
