DStv may be replacing its six-package line-up in Kenya with three monthly packages from November 2026. According to unverified reports, Premium will now cost KES 7,300, the new Compact will cost KES 3,000, and Select will cost KES 1,500.
Compact and Compact Plus are being merged.
This will be DStv’s largest Kenyan subscription reset in years. Its official Kenya comparison page still lists Premium at KES 11,700, Compact Plus at KES 7,300, Compact at KES 4,200, Family at KES 2,250, Access at KES 1,450 and Lite at KES 750. Those remain the published prices before the November structure takes effect.

Premium will cost what Compact Plus costs today
Premium is getting a KES 4,400 monthly cut, from KES 11,700 to KES 7,300. That is a 37.6% reduction. Over a full 12 months, a customer who stays on Premium would pay KES 52,800 less than at the current monthly rate.
The new Premium price is also exactly what DStv charges for Compact Plus today. In practical terms, November’s top package will start at the current second-tier price.
This reverses the direction DStv took in August 2025, when we reported that Premium had risen to KES 11,700 and Compact Plus to KES 7,300. DStv is now taking Premium back below its November 2024 price of KES 11,000.
One Compact package
The KES 3,000 Compact price has two different effects, depending on a customer’s current package.
A current Compact customer pays KES 4,200. Moving to the merged package cuts that bill by KES 1,200, or 28.6%. A Compact Plus customer pays KES 7,300. The new price is KES 4,300 lower, a 58.9% reduction.
We are not sure if the price change will mean less or more show channels will move to the new package.
That distinction matters most for UEFA Champions League, selected SuperSport channels, documentaries and international news channels that DStv currently uses to separate Compact Plus from Compact.
Select changes the calculation at the lower end
DStv currently has three packages below Compact: Lite at KES 750, Access at KES 1,450 and Family at KES 2,250. The new three-package line-up has Select at KES 1,500.
For a Family customer, KES 1,500 would be KES 750 less, a one-third reduction. It is KES 50 more than Access and twice the current Lite price. DStv has not yet published how existing Lite, Access and Family accounts will be moved, or whether any of those older products will remain available to existing customers.
That means Select should not yet be described as a price cut for every lower-tier subscriber. The result depends on which current package each account is moved from and which channels Select carries.
DStv is responding to a much smaller customer base
The overhaul arrives after a steep fall in DStv subscriptions in Kenya. The Communications Authority’s January to March 2026 report recorded 248,053 active DStv subscriptions at the end of March, down from 270,503 in December 2025. That was a loss of 22,450 accounts, or 8.3%, in three months. Kenya’s overall pay-TV market fell 5.1% over the same period.
We examined those subscriber losses in June. DStv has since used cheaper decoders, temporary bouquet upgrades and wider sports access to make the service easier to buy. The November prices address the recurring monthly bill, which has been the larger cost for households that keep a decoder active.
The cuts also come under Canal+, which took effective control of MultiChoice in September 2025. We covered the acquisition and what it could mean for DStv.
A day before the Kenyan prices emerged, we explained DStv’s separate package restructuring in South Africa. Kenya’s plan is different. It reduces the local line-up to Select, Compact and Premium, with large cuts at the top two levels.
