A Danish retailer put up a product page for Samsung’s unannounced Galaxy A18 LTE, with press images of the phone in black, light blue and silver, a spec sheet, and a line saying stock lands online on 8 October. Samsung has not announced the phone and has not given a price or a launch date anywhere.

The Galaxy A18 is the next phone in Samsung’s cheapest numbered Galaxy line, the one the Galaxy A17 sits in now. Samsung splits this model into a 4G version and a 5G version each year, a few months apart, and the 4G one is the cheaper of the two. We wrote about the first A18 firmware leaks in June, when the phone was still only a model number.

What the listing says the phone has:

Almost nothing has changed

Put that beside the Galaxy A17 4G, which Samsung announced in September 2025, and the two phones are close to identical. Both have the same 6.7-inch 90Hz AMOLED panel, the same 6nm Helio G99 processor, the same 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging, and the same 50MP, 5MP and 2MP rear cameras.

Three things change however:

The rating goes from IP54 to IP64, so the phone is sealed against dust rather than only shielded from it.
The body is 0.2mm thicker and 3g heavier.
And the software is newer: Android 17 with One UI 9 preinstalled, where the A17 4G shipped on Android 15.

Samsung has been testing One UI 9 on the A17 5G since June, so the older phone gets there too, just a bit later.

Then there is the price. European listings put the A18 at around €299, against the €199 Samsung charged in Germany when the Galaxy A17 4G went on sale a year ago. The A17 at that price had 6GB of RAM. The A18 at €100 more starts at a meagre 4GB.

What this means for Kenya

Converting the euro figure can give you a jump scare. €299 roughly becomes KES 44,900. The A17 4G launched at €199 in Europe, but it sells in Nairobi at about KES 21,000 for the 4GB/128GB model. So, it’s safe to say European sticker prices carry VAT and sit well above what the same phone costs here.

The A18 needs to be cost just about the same as the A17 for it to matter. This is because it has the same processor, panel and battery in a slightly heavier shell. The A17 4G already sits in the band we cover in our guide to the best phones in Kenya for KES 20,000 and below.
