Leaked One UI 9 builds for Galaxy A57 & A17 5G hint at wider Android 17 Beta testing

Samsung’s One UI 9 development is gathering pace.

Just days after the first Galaxy S25 Ultra One UI 9 Beta firmware surfaced, new leaks suggest Samsung has now brought two of its most popular mid-range and budget Galaxy phones into the Android 17 testing cycle.

Samsung leaker Fahad Ali Javed, who previously shared several internal One UI 9 test builds, has now revealed the first known One UI 9 firmware for both the Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy A17 5G. These leaks paint a clearer picture of Samsung’s expanding Android 17 roadmap, and could offer the strongest indication yet that the company plans to widen its public beta program beyond flagship devices.

Galaxy A57 gets its first leaked One UI 9 build

The more significant of the two leaks concerns the Galaxy A57. According to a screenshot shared on X, Samsung has compiled what appears to be the first publicly leaked One UI 9 firmware for the device. More interestingly, backend firmware information references an August 5, 2026 security patch, despite Samsung not yet releasing its August security update.

That firmware metadata includes:

Seeing an internal firmware already aligned with an unreleased monthly security patch suggests Samsung’s Android 17 development has progressed further than public testing currently indicates. While internal builds frequently use future security patches during development, their appearance generally signals that software validation is moving steadily toward broader testing.

Galaxy A17 5G boots One UI 9 surprisingly early

The second leak may be even more surprising. Fahad Ali Javed also shared the first One UI 9 build running on the Galaxy A17 5G. According to the leaker, the firmware flashed successfully and booted without major issues. Although performance reportedly reflects the limitations of an entry-level device, one unexpected highlight stood out: Samsung’s Home Up module appears to function immediately, including support for its multi-finger customization mode.

For a budget Galaxy phone, reaching this stage of development this early in Samsung’s testing cycle is noteworthy.

A public One UI 9 Beta for Galaxy A phones looks increasingly likely

The Galaxy A57 and A17 5G leaks also strengthen earlier expectations that Samsung could expand its One UI 9 Beta Program to select Galaxy A devices. Earlier this month, we predicted Samsung may continue the strategy it introduced with the Galaxy A36’s One UI 8.5 Beta, marking the first time the company officially tested beta software on a mainstream Galaxy A device.

With the Galaxy A57 and A17 5G now running what appears to be advanced internal Android 17 builds, it’s becoming increasingly plausible that Samsung could once again invite mid-range users into the beta program after flagship testing stabilizes.

Nothing is official yet, but the evidence continues to point in that direction. However, internal firmware doesn’t guarantee an imminent public rollout. Samsung still needs to complete internal validation before launching beta programs and, eventually, stable updates.

Still, the appearance of these early builds, particularly the Galaxy A17 5G package and the Galaxy A57 firmware tied to an unreleased August security patch, suggests One UI 9 development is progressing quickly behind the scenes. For now, Galaxy users can expect more leaked firmware builds to surface over the coming weeks as Samsung continues preparing Android 17 for a wider range of devices.
