iPhone Duo goes on pre-order Friday from USD 1,999 , let’s wait for crazy local pricing!

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, open on Friday 16th October 2026 at 5 a.m. Pacific time, which is 3 p.m. in Nairobi. It starts at $1,999 for 256GB, or about KES 259,000, and the first orders reach buyers a week later, on Friday 23rd October. Apple announced it on 9th September, at the same event as the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, and it’s the last of the three phones to go on sale. The 18 Pro models have been in shops since 18th September.

If you missed the launch, the Duo folds like a book. Closed, it’s a phone with a 5.4-inch screen, roughly the size of a passport. Open it and there’s a 7.6-inch screen inside, which Apple says is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s. It runs on the A20 Pro, the same chip as the 18 Pro models, and it unlocks with Touch ID in the side button because there’s no Face ID. It also takes an eSIM only, in every country it’s sold in, so there’s no slot for a physical SIM card. We went through everything Apple announced on launch night.

Prices and where you can order

The Duo comes in two colours, star white and night sky, and four storage sizes. Here’s what Apple’s US store and its UAE store charge:

StorageUS priceUAE price
256GB$1,999AED 8,499
512GB$2,199AED 9,349
1TB$2,599AED 11,049
2TB$3,199AED 13,599

Friday’s first wave covers more than 70 countries and regions. Apple names 18 of them: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Türkiye, the UAE, the UK, the US and Vietnam.

Another 28 countries and regions get it on Friday 30th October, and Apple hasn’t listed those.

Two cases go on order the same day: the iPhone Duo Case at $79, about KES 10,200, and the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand at $129.

The phone ships with iOS 27.1.

What it should cost in Kenya

Apple doesn’t sell iPhones directly in Kenya. So phones reach Kenyan shelves through resellers and importers, and they set the price.

The iPhone 18 Pro shows what that does. In the US the 256GB model costs $1,199, about KES 155,000. iStreet sells it for KES 188,000 and Avechi for about KES 189,000, which is roughly 21% above the converted US price. That gap pays for taxes, shipping and the shop’s margin. On the iPhone 18 Pro Max it’s wider: Avechi’s 256GB unit is about 29% above the US price.

Put the same gaps on the Duo and the 256GB model lands at about KES 314,000 to KES 334,000 in Kenyan shops. That’s our estimate. Avechi already has a page for the 256GB Duo at KES 299,999, marked out of stock, which sits just under that range. Bigger storage climbs from there: at the same 21%, the 2TB model would be about KES 502,000.

Buying one yourself in Dubai doesn’t save much. The UAE price for 256GB works out to about KES 300,000, and at roughly USD 2,314 it’s above both personal allowances the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) quotes for travellers, USD 2,000 on its web FAQ and USD 500 in its handbook. As we explained when KRA stopped a courier with 40 iPhone 18 Pro phones at JKIA, anything over the allowance has to be declared, and the duty paid, before you leave the airport.
