OnePlus 15 ColorOS 17 stable rollout starts on 29th October 2026

OnePlus has opened ColorOS 17 testing to OnePlus 15 owners in India. The open beta, an early test version of the Android 17 upgrade, began on 9th October 2026. For owners waiting for the stable public release, OnePlus has scheduled the rollout from 29th October 2026.

If you’re checking your phone for the update, those are two separate releases. Applications for the India beta ran from 9th to 12th October 2026, so that window has closed. The stable update will arrive in batches, and when you receive it depends on your region and device model. Even on 29th October 2026, some owners will still have to wait.

The OnePlus Pad 4 tablet is scheduled alongside the OnePlus 15 on 29th October 2026. The OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s follow on 30th October 2026, again as the start of their rollout.

What changes when OxygenOS becomes ColorOS

OnePlus owners have been using OxygenOS, the software that controls how their phones look and work. This update moves eligible existing phones to OPPO’s ColorOS and brings a newer Android version with it. ColorOS is OPPO’s customised version of Android: the interface you use to open apps, change settings and manage notifications.

Back in July, we covered OnePlus’s decision to move eligible devices to ColorOS. OnePlus’s original announcement made the switch voluntary. It also said existing phones would keep getting software updates and security patches for their originally promised support periods. Owners who switched would have a way back to OxygenOS, with the specific rollback versions to be announced later.

The changes you’ll see include more translucent menus and controls that stretch or compress when you touch them. OPPO calls this Living Flow Design, and the aim is for movement between screens to feel more continuous. That’s the promised effect; we haven’t measured the improvement on a OnePlus 15.

OnePlus also promises better memory scheduling through its Trinity Engine. This decides how the phone shares memory between apps, including the ones you’ve left open in the background. If it keeps more of those apps running, you should be able to switch back without having to wait for them to start again.

Then there are the AI tools. Mind Space, where you save information to return to later, can capture supported documents and summarise them. Mind Pilot’s Agent Mode can organise photos and files and use tools to work through tasks. Which functions you get can vary by model and country, so don’t expect every launch demonstration to apply to every OnePlus 15.

Before installing the beta

OnePlus warns that some planned functions may be missing or unfinished in the India beta. Apps from other developers can fail, and the phone may temporarily get hotter or use more power as it performs background work after the update. Carrier-locked phones aren’t eligible for this beta.

The installation is designed to keep your data, although OnePlus recommends backing it up first. Going back to the stable OxygenOS 16 release will erase all data and contents from the phone. That’s what the published rollback procedure requires.

If this is the phone you rely on every day, we’d wait for the stable update scheduled from 29th October 2026 and read the release notice for your regional build before installing it. The beta gives participants an earlier look, but you need to be comfortable with apps failing and wiping the phone if you decide to go back.
