OPPO Pad Mini expands internationally with an 8.8-inch matte OLED display

OPPO has opened orders for the Pad Mini Matte Display Edition in India and Malaysia as it brings the compact Android tablet to more international markets. It has an 8.8-inch OLED screen and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor in a body that OPPO measures at 5.46mm thick. OPPO is pitching it for reading and creative work, including taking handwritten notes with a stylus.

The Indian launch took place on 22nd October 2026. OPPO’s Indian store is taking preorders at INR 94,999, or about KES 130,000, for the Lavender Purple model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

In Malaysia, delivery dates depend on when and how you ordered. The preorder period runs from 22nd to 29th October 2026, with the first regular preorder batch due to ship from 30th October 2026. For customers who bought OPPO’s earlier Deal Pack, deliveries start on 22nd October 2026. The store currently displays MYR 3,499, or about KES 111,000.

There are also official product listings in Thailand and Singapore. These extend the regional rollout, but the Malaysian delivery dates apply to Malaysia. Buyers elsewhere need to check their own country’s order and delivery terms.

A small tablet built around its screen

Much of the Pad Mini’s appeal comes from its screen. In an OLED panel, each pixel lights up individually, so black areas can switch off without a backlight shining across the display. The matte finish addresses a different problem: reflections. OPPO says it reduces them, which should help when you’re reading or taking notes under bright lights. We haven’t tested that claim.

OPPO specifications list a 2,520 x 1,680 resolution and an adaptive refresh rate up to 144Hz. Refresh rate is how often the screen redraws each second; a higher rate can make scrolling look smoother. OPPO limits that maximum to certain apps in its product-page footnote, so you shouldn’t expect every game or application to run at 144Hz.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is the processor that runs the tablet’s apps and graphics. OPPO also lists an 8,000mAh typical battery with charging up to 67W through its SUPERVOOC system. Those numbers tell you the battery capacity and maximum charging power; they don’t tell you how long it will last in your use. There’s a 13-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front for video calls.

It weighs about 282g and has a thickness of 5.46mm. It’s small enough to hold while reading and carry in a small bag, though the screen leaves less room for working across several windows than a larger tablet.

OPPO Pad Mini expands into international markets with a matte OLED screen, while official Kenya pricing and availability remain unconfirmed.

Software and availability

The international specification pages list ColorOS 16, OPPO’s version of Android. Last month, we covered a China upgrade schedule that included the Pad Mini and its matte version from 16th October 2026. The China schedule doesn’t give these international models an update date, and the regional product pages don’t specify how many Android upgrades or years of security patches they will receive.

With 5G network sharing, the tablet borrows a nearby phone’s connection. Both devices need to run ColorOS 16 or later. Once you’ve set it up, they reconnect automatically, so a compatible phone can keep the tablet online away from Wi-Fi. Sharing a phone’s connection doesn’t confirm that the tablet has a built-in 5G modem or a SIM slot.

For Kenya, OPPO’s local tablet catalogue lists the Pad Neo, with no Pad Mini launch date or price. You can also look at independent imports.
