Every OPPO, OnePlus and realme phone getting ColorOS 17, all 90 of them

OPPO released ColorOS 17 at its developer conference in Zhuhai. The company published the full stable upgrade schedule the same morning. The first pushes go out on 8 October and the last are set for the first quarter of 2027. Across the whole plan there are 112 devices: 90 phones, 17 tablets and five watches. These are split between OPPO, OnePlus and realme.

When we wrote about everything new in ColorOS 17 at the end of August. At that time here was no schedule at all. Now there is one, and it is the first time OPPO, OnePlus and realme phones have appeared on a single upgrade table.

ColorOS 17 is OPPO’s version of Android 17, the version of Android Google released in June.

What the dates actually promise

The dates are when a push begins. OPPO says so directly: these are start times for the stable rollout rather than full rollout. The order in the table isn’t necessarily the order phones by which phones actually receive the update. OPPO also says dates can move if development slips. So, treat these as rough estimations to when your device receives Android 17.

Another thing to note, especially for markets like Kenya: OPPO says the A-series will be scheduled “depending on adaptation progress”. Which is a way of saying it has no official date. That is the same pattern we flagged in August: ColorOS 16 reached only 13 Find and Reno phones and skipped the A-series completely.

OnePlus owners now know when

OnePlus contributes 23 phones to the schedule, going back to the OnePlus 11 from 2023. realme contributes 25.

We reported in July that OnePlus and realme were retiring OxygenOS and realme UI and moving to ColorOS. The wording OnePlus used then was that owners of eligible devices worldwide would have the option to voluntarily update to ColorOS, with a window to roll back to OxygenOS afterwards.

What was missing was any sense of when. Now the OnePlus 15 and 15T have 8 October, the 13 and 13T have 16 October, the Ace 6 family has 20 October, and the 12, Ace 5 and Turbo 6 lines have November.

OPPO’s table does not repeat the voluntary wording, and it says nothing about whether Chinese OnePlus owners get the same choice or the same rollback window. Neither does OPPO’s launch material.

Gains from Android 17?

• The Aurora Engine handles rendering, and OPPO has rebuilt it on what it calls a fused rendering architecture, which centralises drawing instead of letting each part of the interface do its own. OPPO says that cuts rendering load by 30% and the memory an app uses at launch by up to 25%.

• The Tidal Engine handles scheduling, and its new trick is something OPPO calls memory background. It learns which apps you actually return to, keeps those alive, and puts the rest to sleep. OPPO says apps survive in the background 55.6% more often than on ColorOS 16. Overall it claims about 35% better interface smoothness and cold app starts about 20% faster.

OPPO also makes a durability claim. It says ColorOS 17 carries a TÜV Rheinland certification for 72 months of sustained smoothness, and it is promising six years of smooth performance across the range. That is a claim about ageing, which is the thing Android phones have always been worst at.

Xiaobu, OPPO’s AI assistant, gets longer conversations, adjustable tone and response length, and connections to more than 40 major third-party services covering over 150 service types and 700 scenarios. Those partners are Chinese.

Tang Kai, president of OPPO’s software engineering business unit, said at the conference that ColorOS now has more than 770 million active users across more than 90 countries.

New devices upcoming

Three products will come with ColorOS 17 pre-installed.

1. The OPPO Find X10 series launches on 22 September, in three models, with an 8,000mAh battery across the range.
2. The OnePlus 16 arrives with it too, and OnePlus China president Li Jie said on 17 September that it is the first phone to run every app at 165Hz, switchable in settings rather than limited to system apps.
3. The OPPO Watch S2 is the third.

Every date above is for China. OPPO has not published a global timetable. But this is a good sign if your device is mentioned, that you will be getting Android 17 soon.
