Samsung’s own refurbished Galaxy phones are now available on Amazon.com in the US. The Certified Re-Newed range, announced on 21st October 2026, starts at USD 489 or about KES 63,000 before taxes and fees. Amazon is now another place to buy a used Galaxy inspected and repaired by Samsung itself.
Samsung promises a new battery and a one-year limited manufacturer warranty. That gives you two things to check when comparing these phones with other refurbished Galaxys: who has repaired the phone, and who will handle a fault afterwards. If you’re importing one to Kenya, you’ll also need to know whether you can get that warranty repair done here.
Seven models, with two storage choices each
Samsung’s launch list has 14 configurations across seven models. The storage figure is the space available for apps, photos and other files.
| Model | Storage options | Colour |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S24 FE | 128GB, 256GB | Graphite |
| Galaxy S24 | 128GB, 256GB | Onyx Black |
| Galaxy S24+ | 256GB, 512GB | Onyx Black |
| Galaxy S24 Ultra | 256GB, 512GB | Titanium Black |
| Galaxy S25 | 128GB, 256GB | Silver Shadow |
| Galaxy S25+ | 256GB, 512GB | Silver Shadow |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra | 256GB, 512GB | Titanium Black |
The Amazon selection is smaller than Samsung’s own refurbished range. Samsung added the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra to Certified Re-Newed on 14th September 2026, with availability through Samsung.com. The Amazon launch list leaves those phones out, so shoppers get another place to buy from Samsung’s refurbishment programme with a smaller choice of devices.
What Samsung replaces
Under Samsung’s refurbishment process, specialists inspect the phone inside and out. Every device gets a certified new battery. Samsung uses genuine Samsung parts for any other replacements the phone needs, and says each phone must pass 147 quality checkpoints before it earns the Certified Re-Newed label.
The rest of the phone can still have used components: Samsung’s terms say it replaces other parts depending on their condition. You get a new battery without having to arrange the replacement yourself, and Samsung backs the refurbished phone with its warranty.
An ordinary Amazon Renewed phone can still have its old battery. Amazon’s general refurbished-device rules allow batteries with at least 80% of their original capacity, or at least 90% for Renewed Premium. Third-party refurbishers can supply those phones, and a used battery can meet Amazon’s general standard. So check which programme a listing belongs to before comparing its price with Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed version.
The warranty needs a country check
Samsung’s US announcement also makes these devices eligible for Care+, its additional protection service for accidental damage and other covered failures. Restrictions and service fees apply, and the US eligibility does not establish whether you can get cover in Kenya.
Last month, we explained the local Care+ eligibility rules. Samsung’s current Kenyan terms exclude second-hand phones and phones bought abroad from the Standard and Z Premier plans.
For the manufacturer’s warranty, where you bought the phone matters too. Samsung’s overseas repair terms for Kenya and Tanzania generally limit service to the country where a device was first sold. Limited overseas support may be available, subject to a service-centre check, but the terms exclude parallel imports and keep returns and refunds in the original country of sale.
Samsung has given no Kenyan launch date or local price in the Amazon announcement. US buyers now have another familiar retailer selling phones refurbished to Samsung’s standards. If you’re bringing one to Kenya, ask who will handle a fault and where you would have to send the phone before you pay. The new battery is included either way, but how useful the warranty is will depend on whether you can arrange the repair.
