OPPO Reno17 series launches this month

OPPO will launch the Reno17 series in China this month. It opened reservations on its official Weibo account on Friday 30th October 2026 and signed off with “11月见”, “see you in November”. Buyers there can register on OPPO’s store and on JD.com, Tmall, Douyin and Pinduoduo, China’s big shopping sites.

OPPO Kenya only opened pre-orders for the Reno16 and Reno16 F on Monday 26th October, at KES 79,999 and KES 69,999, and they close on Wednesday 4th November.

What OPPO has said so far

The Reno is OPPO’s mid-range line, below its Find flagships, and it has had a new number every six months. OPPO’s China store has two placeholder pages, OPPO Reno17 and OPPO Reno17 Pro, with the price, colours and memory all marked “敬请期待”, stay tuned. The poster is a snowy signboard with no phone on it.

OPPO hasn’t given a launch date, price, spec or market outside China yet. The store is also taking CNY 1 (about KES 20) deposits on gift bundles for an OPPO Pad Air6 tablet and an OPPO Watch 5, which suggests both will launch alongside the phones.

OPPO ran the same play with the Reno16. It opened reservations on 30th April 2026 with “see you in May”, named the date on 18th May and launched the phones a week later, on 25th May, from CNY 3,499, or about USD 525 (KES 68,000). If it repeats that pattern, expect the date about a week before the event.

The Chinese Reno isn’t the Kenyan Reno

For the last two series, OPPO has sold two different phones under each Reno name. The Reno16 sold in China runs MediaTek’s Dimensity 8550 SUPER chip, the processor that runs everything on the phone, and has a 200MP main camera. The Kenyan Reno16 has the same 6.32-inch screen but runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and has a 50MP main camera, as we found when we compared it with the Reno15 earlier this month. The Reno15 split the same way, with a Dimensity 8450 in China and a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in Kenya.

So the Reno17 specs OPPO reveals this month will tell you little about any Kenyan version. That’s also why the early leaks are thin: the 200MP main camera tipped for the Reno17 is already on the Chinese Reno16.

How long Kenya has waited before

The last two Reno series took two to five months to reach Kenyan shops after their China launch.

Reno1625th May 202626th October 2026154 days

Even on the shorter gap, a Kenyan Reno17 wouldn’t arrive before January 2027, and OPPO hasn’t said it’ll come here at all.

So if you need a phone now, don’t hold off on the Reno16 for this. On past form, a Kenyan Reno17 is at least two months away. The next things to watch are the date OPPO names in China, then the global launch, which is where the specs of Kenya’s version have shown up first.
