  • Airtel Kenya has announced scheduled maintenance that may disrupt your router’s internet from midnight to 5 AM.

Airtel Kenya has sent out an important service notice to its customers, especially those using its routers, regarding a scheduled network maintenance window that could affect internet connectivity.

In an SMS alert sent to subscribers today, the telco stated:

“Dear customer, due to scheduled maintenance you may experience internet disruption from your router between midnight and 5am. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

While Airtel did not mention the specific day(s) or regions affected, the timing of the message suggests an imminent maintenance activity aimed at improving or upgrading network infrastructure starting tonight.

The alert appears to be targeted mainly at Airtel router users, who have come to rely on the service for fast and stable internet connections in homes and offices across Kenya. This maintenance is likely part of ongoing efforts to expand or stabilize Airtel’s growing network across the country.

Users engaging in late-night remote work, online gaming, or media streaming are advised to expect brief connectivity disruptions during the stated window — between midnight and 5:00 AM.

With increasing dependence on internet services, especially high-speed connections, even short-term interruptions can have ripple effects on productivity and access to entertainment or cloud services. However, Airtel’s proactive communication shows an effort to keep users informed ahead of time.

This maintenance notification follows a series of recent enhancements by Airtel Kenya aimed at improving user experience. Notably, Airtel recently revamped its 5G Smart Connect unlimited plans, offering up to 50% faster speeds at reduced prices. The My Airtel App is also working on allowing users to manage their home Wi-Fi devices directly through the app’s new “Smart Connect” tab. This feature enables customers to add, remove, and oversee their Airtel Home Wi-Fi devices, such as 5G routers and 4G boxes, streamlining the management of home internet services.
