Best Phones Under 10K in Kenya (March 2015)

I have a new list of best under 10K in July 2015.

It is funny how tech is getting cheaper and cheaper. Just a few years ago, the specs on the phones I am about to list below would cost you more than 20K. In future, devices will become cheaper and cheaper. Come next year Ksh. 5,000 will get you a really, really, really decent device. I am sure about this!

Well, let me go ahead and give you my take on the best devices under 10K in March 2015. It is worth noting that:

  • All these devices run on Android Kitkat
  • All have agreeably good battery life
  • All have good internal storage

Here are the best devices right now:

    1. The Infinix Hot Note X551
I have a comprehensive review of this phone here. It is a 5.5 inch phablet with a 720p (HD) screen. It has a 4000mAh battery that you cannot finish in 24hrs. It has a 1.4GHz Octa core processor. Those are 8 cores for the fastests speeds. It has 16GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. The rear camera is 8MP and the front is 2MP. Funny enough, this device costs Ksh. 9,999 only. Read my reviews here and here.Hot Note Infinix X551
    2. The Infinix Hot X507
This is a predecessor of the Hot Note. It is 5 inches. It has a 2000mAh battery. It has 16GB internal storage. There’s a quad core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and 1GB RAM. The front camera is 2MP while the rear camera is 5MP. It comes in white, black or red. Has a very nice body and shape. It costs Ksh. 6,999. Read my review here.
    3. The Tecno H6
I have mentioned this phone for so long. It is so good in terms of build quality and design. I’m sure most people you know have it. If they don’t, they probably are planning on buying one. It is a 4.5 inch phone with a pixel density of about 218 ppi. It comes with 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM and a quad core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The front camera is 2MP while the rear shooter is 8MP. The battery is 2350mAh. The phone costs Ksh. 9,999. You can read my review here or here.
    4. The Tecno R5
This is the first time I am mentioning this phone on this site. It is a 4 inch IPS phone. It has an 1800mAh battery, 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM. The processor is 1.3GHz Quad Core. The front camera is 2MP while the rear one is 5MP. I will do a quick/full review post if people gain interest on the device. It costs Ksh. 7,999.
    5. The Tecno H3
This phone is also getting its first mention here. It is a 3.5 inch IPS touchscreen device. Its main selling point is the 2000mAh battery which lasts long for such a small device. It has 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and a dual core 1Ghz processor. The rear camera is 5MP while the front one is 0.3MP. It costs Ksh. 6499.
    6. Wiko Lenny
This is a beautiful 5 inch smartphone. It even has a dedicated LED notification bulb that makes it so stylish. Maybe it is just me. It has a dual core 1.3Ghz processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Front camera is 0.3MP while rear camera is 5MP. It costs between Ksh. 8000 and Ksh. 9500. Read my quick review here.

Please don’t buy a phone right now which isn’t Android Kitkat and above.

As you can see how the quality of low ends has increased over time. Devices with superior quality specifications are now more affordable. You will also notice big companies like Samsung, LG or HTC haven’t been listed. Why?

Technology will be so cheap in the next few years, you’ll be amazed when comparing prices.

Is there a phone I have left out? Tell me.

What do you think of the phones in this list?
