Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 with Pop-up Selfie and Triple Cameras Launching in Kenya this June

Update:

It seems Huawei’s main goal this year has been to under-cut everyone with better designs, better specs and better prices. This time, they risk even competing against themselves when they launch the new Huawei Y9 Prime 2019. Yeah, the device they launched at the end of last year is stylised Huawei Y9 2019. Not Prime. Confusing yes, but go with the flow.

The new Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 features incredible specs, and the company teases that it will feature an even more incredible price somewhere between Ksh. 20,000 and Ksh. 30,000 meaning it will directly compete with what’s been my daily driver for a while now: the Huawei P30 Lite.

There’s a couple of exciting things about the new Huawei Y9 Prime 2019:

  • Pop-up selfie camera
  • USB type-C finally!
  • A triple lens setup at the back

This phone will compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy A50 which has an under-the-display fingerprint scanner, and the Huawei P30 Lite. Both of these are Ksh. 29,999+ which means the Y9 Prime will definitely fall around Ksh. 24,999 to Ksh. 26,000. Which already looks like an amazing deal. Oh, there’s also the normal OPPO F11 that’s going for almost the same price.
