Barely hours after OPPO teased their upcoming under-display selfie camera tech, Xiaomi has responded with their own on a working model of the Mi 9. And it looks great!

It had been said that Xiaomi had recently filed a patent application for tech that could be used for under-display cameras, and as we can see from the video, it seems that’s true. That’s a Mi 9 model in the video – which means theirs is ready tech and could be announced any time soon. Lin Bin, Xiaomi president said on Weibo that the video was shot last month. So fingers-crossed we should see a new Mi 9 variant launch anytime soon.
We are also still waiting for Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone which they teased early on in the year. Hopefully, some Xiaomi company executives will be in Kenya next weekend for the launch of the Mi Home experience centre, and if they are there we can ask more questions.
