Standout features of the Infinix HOT 10i

The Infinix HOT 10i has been available in the Kenyan market for a while now. I’ve finally gotten around to using it for a few days, and in this post I will share with you the standout features of the device. Basically, the things I’ve liked.

As an Android Go device, you know there are a couple of things that may be considered limitations for people with more powerful devices. However, for people who are looking for a great user experience at a budget, the choices by Google in terms of software, and those by Infinix for the hardware bring about a compelling experience.

What I mean is this: it is obvious that Android as an OS is quite heavy. Google decided to have a lighter version targeting devices with budget processors, and smaller RAM. And Infinix took that version of Android and gave it quite capable hardware. Meaning as a user, your device will be quite smooth, and quite fast for the important tasks; social media, photography, and the like.

In my experience with the phone, I’d recommend you use the lite version of Apps available on the Google Play Store. They work really smoothly. However, for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the main big apps run quite well too.

WhatsApp also works well, provided you don’t have a lot of media to restore which could slow down the set-up process.

For the rest of the apps, kindly stick with the lite versions not only to save on space – you get 32GB or 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage – but also so as not to overburden the Helio G25.

That said, here are the standout features of the Infinix HOT 10i:

The display:

Infinix has released a couple of budget devices over the years. What I like is that they know the market loves big screens and they haven’t stopped providing that. The 6.52 inch display caps at 720p resolution. However, it looks good to be honest. It is quite bright even outdoors, and the colours are vibrant. I think they only saved cost on resolution, the panel itself is great.

The Processor:

The Helio G25 is a good chipset for this budget. It was introduced at the end of 2020, so it isn’t an old processor being forced on customers. It has been used by a couple of phones like the Redmi 9i, and the Nokia G10 – which run the full Android version, not Android Go – showing you that it is a capable chipset.

Your tasks will be smooth provided you don’t use up all the 2GB of RAM the phone comes with. But as long as you’re using the lite apps, and you are only on social media apps, you will have a great experience.

I wouldn’t recommend gaming on this phone. But you can. You will just have to be patient with the initial load times of the game. Once loaded, you will have a few hiccups here and there but it will be playable. And this is for basic games, not resource intensive ones mark you.

The Cameras:

I am not telling you they’re great cameras. They’re basic. They get the job done.

At the back the 13MP sensor is the only important camera. You will be able to get good landscapes, good portraits too. They will lack in dynamic range, and will lose details immediately you try to zoom in. But they will be really good compared to many other phones within the same price points.

The selfie camera as usual will be quite okay for many people. Infinix still has their signature front LED flash to help you when taking selfies in low-light areas.

Battery Life:

Finally, this is the biggest feature of the Inifnix HOT 10i. For many people who use their phones for WhatsApp, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and making phone calls only, this phone not only has you covered, it will also ensure you can access those apps for a very long time between charges.

The 6000mAh battery is very welcome. My only wish would be a faster charger, and USB type-C.
