TECNO has finally unveiled the Camon 18 Premier which is expected to be the brand’s current flagship device. Yes, the Phantom X should ideally be the flagship, but that has since been spun off as its own brand.
The Camon 18 Premier is the first device for the African market that comes with the Helio G96 processor from Mediatek. This is the same processor we expect to see with the Infinix NOTE 11 Pro which is also launching soon.
The Helio G96 processor features MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 gaming technology which means it has both an Intelligent Resource Management Engine and a Networking Engine to improve gaming performance in each area. The former optimises CPU, GPU and memory to ensure the gameplay is always smooth with no jitters, while the latter prioritises gameplay traffic to ensure the lowest pings keeping you always connected when gaming.
Thanks to support by the processor processor, the phone now features a 120Hz AMOLED panel. There’s 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. There’s a 4750mAh battery which supports 33W Fast Charging allowing it to reach 50% in just 20 minutes.

Like we’ve seen Infinix claim with the Zero X Pro, the Camon 18 Premier’s 5X periscope lens uses the Galileo algorithm engine which accesses multiple frames and gathers pixel information to enhance resolution and clarity. The phone thus combines the 5X optical zoom capability with up to 12X AI algorithm-based digital zoom allowing users to reach 60X hybrid zoom and travel as far as the moon in photography.
At the front, there’s now a 32MP selfie camera which TECNO says features improved algorithms for both clarity, beauty and editing options.
