Infinix NOTE 12 Series officially launched starting at KES 21,000

Infinix has officially launched the Infinix NOTE 12 Series to the Kenyan market. The new series consists of three devices. These are the new phones in the series, plus their recommended retail prices:

  • Infinix NOTE 12 VIP – KES 41,999
  • Infinix NOTE 12 – KES 27,999
  • Infinix NOTE 12i – KES 21,999

The NOTE 12 will have two variants. There’s the NOTE 12 G88 and the NOTE 12 G96. In the local market, it seems we will only be having the NOTE 12 G96.

If you’re wondering why there’s no mention of a PRO model, well at the launch Infinix hinted at a NOTE 12 PRO coming later on with 5G support. Which is a curious thing because depending on how much it costs, we may be seeing new 5G chipsets from Mediatek, at affordable prices.

The NOTE 12 VIP is Infinix’s best phone to date, I daresay. It is well built, incredibly solid and features two things I really like from my interaction with it:

  • 120W fast charging
  • 120Hz AMOLED display

Check out my unboxing video of the new NOTE 12 VIP here:

The new NOTE 12 Series devices come with Android 12 out of the box. This is a good thing because these devices generally don’t get software updates. Hopefully Infinix is putting resources into ensuring they change this narrative in the coming years.

The main differences between the NOTE 12 and the NOTE 12 VIP are:

  • Display’s refresh rate – NOTE 12 has AMOLED 60Hz, while NOTE 12 VIP has AMOLED 120Hz
  • Storage size – NOTE 12 has 128GB while NOTE 12 VIP has 256GB
  • Battery size and fast charging – NOTE 12 has 5000mAh battery with 33W charging while NOTE 12 VIP has 4500mAh 120W charging
  • Cameras – NOTE 12 has a 50MP main camera while the NOTE 12 VIP has a 108MP main camera

The NOTE 12i differs from the NOTE 12 in display type, size and refresh rate, and in RAM only.

It will be interesting to see the uptake of these new phones especially since Infinix has been having a good run with the NOTE series since the NOTE 7. Their partnership with Sauti Sol has also been renewed, meaning they must be receiving positive feedback from everything.

You can get the new devices from retailers across the country.
