In a scheduled announcement, Safaricom has notified its customers of upcoming system maintenance, set to take place from 10:00 PM on 26th October until 5:00 AM on 27th October 2024. During this period, some services will be temporarily unavailable as the telecommunications giant performs upgrades aimed at enhancing user experience.
The maintenance will impact a range of services, including:
• Top-up Airtime Services: Customers will be unable to top up airtime.
• Okoa Jahazi Services: The credit advance service will be paused.
• Bundle Purchases via Airtime and M-PESA: All internet bundle purchases through airtime or M-PESA transactions will be disrupted.
• Subscription Services: Ongoing and new subscriptions may not process.
• Postpaid Payments: Payments for postpaid accounts will not go through during the downtime.
• Sambaza, Bonga, and SIM Swaps: Transfers, Bonga points transactions, and SIM swap services will also be temporarily halted.
Safaricom assured users that all other services would remain operational throughout the maintenance period. The company apologized for any inconvenience caused, expressing gratitude for customers’ patience as they work to enhance service delivery.
This scheduled downtime may inconvenience some users who rely heavily on Safaricom’s services, particularly for airtime top-ups, M-PESA transactions, and internet bundles. However, the temporary unavailability highlights Safaricom’s commitment to maintaining and improving the reliability of its network for millions of users across Kenya.
