Airtel Money Customers Can Now Use Naivas for Deposits and Withdrawals

Airtel Money Kenya has announced a significant partnership with Naivas Supermarket, allowing Airtel Money customers to deposit and withdraw cash at all 109 Naivas branches nationwide. The move is part of Airtel Money’s broader strategy to expand its agent network and enhance financial inclusion through accessible mobile money services.

Key Highlights of the Partnership

  • Seamless Transactions: Airtel Money customers can now perform cash deposits and withdrawals at Naivas outlets countrywide.
  • Free Withdrawal Services: As part of the ongoing ‘Rudishiwa Transaction Fee Campaign,’ withdrawal fees are refunded as Airtel Airtime. For example, withdrawing KES 1,000 incurs a KES 25 fee, which is reimbursed as Airtime that can be used for calls, data, or SMS.
  • Strategic Accessibility: The partnership significantly bolsters Airtel Money’s footprint, offering customers enhanced convenience in accessing financial services.

Unlike Safaricom’s M-Pesa, which has long been renowned for its extensive network of agents readily available across the country, Airtel Money has faced challenges in achieving similar accessibility. This partnership with Naivas Supermarket marks a significant step toward bridging that gap. By leveraging Naivas’ vast branch network, Airtel Money is making it easier for both existing and potential customers to quickly access essential services. Customers living near a Naivas branch will now enjoy the convenience of dependable mobile money services in their communities.

By addressing historical challenges in agent accessibility, Airtel Money is making strides to match and even rival Safaricom’s dominance in the mobile money landscape.
