M-Shwari Sounds the Alarm on Fake “Limit Upgrade” Scams

Fraudsters are on the prowl again, this time targeting M-Shwari customers with false promises of quick loan limit increases. M-Shwari has issued a firm warning: no one outside NCBA can alter your limit no matter what the WhatsApp group admin says.

Loan limits on M-Shwari are set exclusively by NCBA through an internal process that considers your borrowing habits, repayment history, and savings activity. Want a higher limit? The recipe is simple: borrow and repay on time, save more on M-Shwari, and maintain a solid credit record.

Scammers, however, are dangling bait in the form of “activation fees” ranging from KES 675 to over KES 10,000, claiming they can raise your limit to as much as KES 75,000 in minutes. Some even promise results in just seven minutes. But in a statement, M-Shwari is clear that no third party or individual has the authority or ability to change your loan limit.

For safety, M-Shwari urges customers to stick to official support channels only:

  • Calls: Safaricom 100/200 numbers or NCBA 0711056444 / 0732156444
  • Social media: Facebook and X (Twitter)

The message is simple: when it comes to growing your M-Shwari limit, there are no shortcuts. Patience, discipline, and timely repayments are the only real “magic” that works.
