If you had plans to visit a Safaricom shop this week, you might want to reschedule. Kenya’s biggest telco is taking a brief break. Not to rest its network (don’t worry, your data and M-PESA are safe), but to hold an internal staff event.
Safaricom has announced that its retail shops across several regions, including the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, Mombasa, Malindi, Diani, Machakos, Kitui, Thika, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Embu, Maua, Meru, and Garissa, will be closed on Thursday, 9th October 2025 for the company-wide event. The same shops across Mount Kenya, Coast, Eastern, and North Eastern regions will start closing early today, Wednesday, 8th October 2025, from 11:30 AM to prepare for the big day.

So if you were planning to replace a SIM card, upgrade your phone, or window shop (we’ve all been there), you might want to do that from Friday. Still, Safaricom has assured customers that essential services will remain available. You can continue getting help through Zuri Chatbot on Safaricom’s digital platforms, Safaricom contact centre, or authorized Safaricom dealer outlets near you.
