You can now buy B-Live data bundle directly from MySafaricom app on iOS

Safaricom is making it easier for users to purchase B-Live time-based data bundles, with the latest update to the MySafaricom app on iOS now providing native support for the popular offering.

The B-Live bundles, which offer data based on time (e.g., 90 minutes for KES 30) rather than the standard volume (MB/GB), were launched earlier this year but could previously only be purchased via USSD codes or the web portal.

Now, iPhone users are receiving the new features in MySafaricom app version 1.27.1, streamlining the purchase process directly within the application.

The addition of B-Live bundles is clearly visible and easy to access on the app. Once updated, the purchase option can be found:

Green Holidays
  1. Launch the MySafaricom app on your iPhone.
  2. On the homepage, tap the “Data, Calls, SMS, & Airtime” option.
  3. The new “B-Live Bundles” option is now available, positioned to the far right alongside Tunukiwa and OFA Moto.

The new B-LIVE option has replaced the shortcut to the Daima Service, indicating a re-prioritisation of services within the core navigation menu. For me, I only have access to a couple of B-Live options: KES 30 for 90 minutes and KES 75 for 4.5 hours.

The changelog for the iOS update, version 1.27.1, also notes the following new features and enhancements:

  • Shangwe @25 Promotion: Direct integration and management for Safaricom’s ongoing anniversary promotion, offering quick access to track points and prizes.
  • Data Balances Enhancement: Improved and clearer visual displays of current data usage and balances.

Notably, this functionality has not yet appeared on the Android version of the MySafaricom application.

The latest widely available version on the Google Play Store is 1.26.1.2 (updated mid-last month), which is an older build. That previous update brought features like Data Dabo Dabo Bundles, an Updated Favourite Transactions Journey, and Ofa Moto.

Given the staggered rollout, Android users will likely have to wait for the next major version update to gain native support for purchasing B-Live bundles through the app.
