The Samsung Galaxy S27 Series is expected in 2027. Either January or February. But we are already seeing lots of leaks about it. Here, we recap everything we know about the upcoming series.
Four phones, one S Pen
The biggest structural change is the line-up itself. In April, we covered a report by South Korean outlet ETNews claiming Samsung will expand the series to four phones: Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra. Sources in Samsung’s Mobile eXperience division, described an Ultra variant without the S Pen. Logically, that can be seen as Samsung trying to sell more higher-end phones for people in a sort of cheaper price point. So, those who want the S-Pen will need to pay a little more.
A camera plateau like Apple
The latest leak is the design. On 23 and 24 August, leakers like Sonny Dickson shared CAD models showing a raised rectangular camera plateau in the top-left corner of the phone’s back: two large circular lens cutouts side by side, with a pill-shaped cutout next to them holding a third camera and the flash, and a Qi2 magnet ring below.
Well, with the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max a year ago, Apple introduced a raised plateau of its own. And the reactions from Samsung’s leaks have all said the same thing: Samsung will be said to have copied Apple once more.
If the leaks are true, Samsung will be retiring the floating individual lens rings it has used on every flagship since the Galaxy S21. But as it stands, the changes are only for the PRO and ULTRA.

The leaks go on to state that the S27 Ultra will keep the exact dimensions and display size from the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
What’s unclear about this round of leaks is where we actually stand on design. Because just a week or so ago, another set of leaks said WIPO filings had a design showing a Pixel-style camera bar on what was thought to be the Galaxy S27. We believe the iPhone style camera plateau more. Maybe the Pixel-style bar is for the base models?
The Galaxy S27 Pro is the phone to watch
If the leaks are right, the Pro is the actual news of this generation: a new flagship tier, which maybe similar size or a tad smaller than the Ultra, but with most of the Ultra’s hardware. The spec sheet according to leaks could be something like:
- 6.5-inch QHD+ 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED display with Privacy Display
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro or Exynos 2700
- 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide, 12MP 3x telephoto, 16MP selfie camera
- 5,200mAh battery with wired and Qi2.2 wireless charging
- 12GB or 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage
Privacy Display is Samsung’s screen technology that narrows viewing angles so the person beside you cannot read your screen. It debuted on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, where we found it washes out the screen in dark mode.
The Ultra may lose a camera
Reports from back in April point at the Ultra dropping from 4 to 3 rear cameras. Just as pointed above with the PRO.
Chips, batteries and screens
According to SamMobile, the Pro and Ultra will run a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 “Pro for Galaxy”, Samsung’s usual overclocked bin of Qualcomm’s flagship chip. An Exynos 2700 will be used for some models and regions, including the Pro as mentioned above.
We could also be seeing Silicon-carbon in Samsung flagship devices finally.
On the displays, one rumour we covered has since died. In May we reported that Chinese panel maker BOE was courting Samsung with cheaper OLED panels for the base S27. By July, OLED-Info reported Samsung had decided to stay exclusively with Samsung Display for the whole series.
Where a Pro would sit on Kenya’s price ladder
Today the Galaxy S26 sells in Nairobi for roughly KES 109,000 to 130,000 depending on configuration, the S26+ is listed at about KES 128,000, and the S26 Ultra, which launched above KES 150,000, now sells for around KES 120,000 to 130,000 after this year’s price cuts, with top configurations still fetching over KES 180,000.
A Pro positioned between the Plus and the Ultra would land somewhere in the KES 135,000 to 155,000 band at launch. And hopefully fall below KES 100,000 quite fast to accommodate the Ultra’s prices. However, this is all speculation especially in a year where smartphone prices are on the rise.
