Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gets a huge price cut, now going for as low as KES 115,000

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is already selling for as low as KES 115,000 from some Kenyan retailers, a sharp drop from its launch price of over KES 150,000. The trend highlights a growing reality in Kenya's gadget market: early adopters pay the highest premiums, while patient buyers often walk away with the best deals just a few months later.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Series is dropping in price across Kenya much faster than many expected. This is especially true for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, a device that historically holds its value far longer than its standard and Plus siblings.

At launch just a few months ago, the base 12GB/256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra was retailing upwards of KES 150,000. At such high prices, offers from LOOP FLEX and similar really came in handy for many. But today, you can easily snag that exact model for KES 130,000 or much lower, depending on where you shop. Losing more than KES 30,000 in value in three months is insane for a flagship from such a reputable company, but it highlights the reality of our local market.

The “early adopter tax”

Why the sharp drop? Vendors often overprice these devices at launch. Once the initial buyers pay this “early adopter tax” and the remaining stock starts gathering dust, retailers heavily discount to move units. They then restock with cheaper imports, lowering the price permanently. We have seen this exact trend recently with the iPhone 17 series and the MacBook Neo. Not even Apple is spared, and we expect it to hold even with Google’s latest Fitbit Air.

Here are some of the current deals you can find in Nairobi right now:

  • Brix Electronics: KES 115,000 (Open box). Comes with a Samsung warranty, a free glass protector, data transfer, and trade-ins are accepted. Notably, open-box devices are phones whose packaging has already been opened, though they are often still in excellent condition and may even carry the same manufacturer warranty as brand-new units. The trade-off is that availability tends to be limited, and buyers should carefully verify the device’s condition before purchase.
  • ProTech Kenya: KES 124,000 (Brand new). Comes with a 2-year East Africa warranty.
  • Kype Computers: KES 130,000 (Brand new). Comes with a 2-year East Africa warranty.

Of course, major outlets are still pricing the Galaxy S26 Ultra at roughly KES 150,000, so choose wisely where you shop.

What about the Galaxy S26 FE?

If the Ultra is still beyond your budget, remember that Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S26 FE. The outgoing Galaxy S25 FE is currently going for below KES 70,000, and while the new S26 FE will debut higher, expect it to land well below the KES 100,000 mark.

So, if you want to make a major tech purchase in Kenya, whether it’s a Galaxy flagship or a wearable like the Fitbit Air, patience pays. Wait just a few months after launch, and it will be significantly cheaper in no time.
