Xiaomi's Pad 9 Pro Max lands 7 September with the Xring O3, 16GB RAM and Android 17. China only again.

Xiaomi is launching the the Pad 9 Pro Max on 7 September. It is the first tablet to run the Xring O3, the 3nm processor Xiaomi designed in-house and had TSMC build. The tablet shares the stage with the Xiaomi 18 Fold and three Sky Nomad SUVs at the same autumn event.

Xiaomi has confirmed the date, the chip, the 13.3-inch screen size and the design. It says the tablet runs PC-level applications on HyperOS 4, its next big-screen software release. E

Here’s everything based on leaks. These will be confirmed after the launch.

What the chip does

We covered the Xring O3 when Xiaomi announced it on 24 August. It has 24 billion transistors, ten CPU cores and no small efficiency cores at all. Xiaomi says its 16-core GPU is 85% faster than the Xring O1’s, and claims an AnTuTu score of 5.22 million, which would be the first phone chip past five million. The Xring O3 is also the first mobile chip designed for LPDDR6, the memory generation Xiaomi and CXMT put into production this year, running at 113.8GB/s.

A Geekbench 6 entry for model M367FC, named as the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, appeared at the end of August with 16GB of RAM and Android 17. It scored 3,471 single-core and 13,229 multi-core, with core clocks reading two at 4.36GHz, four at 3.69GHz and four at 3.15GHz. That multi-core result sits 15 to 20% above the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with single-core slightly behind it.

Battery, and more

Reports point to a battery above 10,000mAh with 120W wired charging, storage in 512GB and 1TB, and a weight near 650 grams. Those reports also say the screen is LCD, which would be a step back from the 14-inch OLED panel on last year’s Pad 7 Ultra.

At the launch we’ll get to know whether Xiaomi commits to a global variant of the Pad 9 Pro Max, or leaves the Xring O3 as a China-only chip the way it left the O1. If it does the latter, the Snapdragon-powered Pad 9 Pro is the one we may see globally.
