POCO C95 Pro Vs Redmi 17C 5G: bigger battery or 5G?

Xiaomi has two new budget phones on sale in several countries. They’re the POCO C95 Pro and the Redmi 17C 5G, from Xiaomi’s POCO and Redmi brands.

The POCO C95 Pro launched in Europe and Singapore on 1st October 2026. In Germany it lists at EUR 279.90 or about KES 40,800 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The Redmi 17C 5G reached Singapore back in August 2026. It goes on sale in India on 7th October.

Both have a 6.9-inch screen. It refreshes up to 120 times a second, which makes scrolling look smoother than the usual 60. Both also have a 50MP main camera and a headphone jack.

They differences are on battery and 5G:

  • The POCO C95 Pro has a 7,500mAh battery and no 5G.
  • The Redmi 17C 5G has 5G and a 6,000mAh battery.

POCO C95 Pro

The C95 Pro uses a MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chip. It’s built on an older 12nm process (a smaller number usually means a more efficient chip), and it comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Its storage is eMMC 5.1, an older and slower type of phone storage than the UFS 2.2 in the Redmi 17C 5G. So the POCO has the slower storage of the two.

It’s also the bigger phone. It weighs 232g and is 8.8mm thick, against 211g and 8.05mm for the Redmi 17C 5G.

The phone charges at 45W, which Xiaomi says reaches 100% in 96 minutes. It can also charge earbuds or another phone from its own battery over a cable, at up to 22.5W. Xiaomi’s page says no power adapter is included, yet a footnote on the same page says its battery and charging figures were tested “using the in-box 45W charger”. You’ll need to buy a 45W adapter for those speeds.

Don’t treat the 7,500mAh as a guaranteed win on battery life. Xiaomi’s lab figures give the POCO up to 28 hours of video, tested “under boost mode”, and the Redmi 17C 5G about 43.5 hours. The Redmi’s page doesn’t say how that was measured, so the two numbers aren’t a fair comparison. They do mean the bigger battery isn’t shown to last longer.

So the POCO is the one for the biggest battery and the fastest charging, as long as you buy the charger.

Xiaomi's new POCO C95 Pro and Redmi 17C 5G compared, plus the Redmi 17 Kenya sells at about KES 27,500.

Redmi 17C 5G

The Redmi 17C 5G uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6300, which adds 5G. Xiaomi’s 5G band list includes n7, the 2600MHz band.

The chip is built on a 6nm process and its fastest cores run at 2.4GHz, against 12nm and 2.0GHz on the POCO. On the spec sheets, that makes it the faster and more efficient chip. It has 4GB of RAM with 64GB or 128GB of storage on Xiaomi’s global pages.

The box differs by market. Xiaomi’s global page says a 15W adapter comes in the box, but its German, French, Italian and Spanish spec pages say none is included. Xiaomi India lists a 6GB version with a 33W charger in the box.

What they cost

The POCO C95 Pro’s 8GB version with 256GB lists at EUR 329.90 or about KES 48,100. Those and the 6GB price above are the prices on Xiaomi’s German and Italian stores, and Spain and France are within a few euros. A launch deal in Germany runs to 7th October and cuts the two versions to EUR 219.90 or about KES 32,000 and EUR 249.90 or about KES 36,400.

The Redmi 17C 5G costs EUR 199.99 or about KES 29,100 in Spain, against a list price of EUR 239.99 or about KES 35,000. France sells it at EUR 203 or about KES 29,600. In India, Xiaomi’s store lists it from INR 20,999 or about KES 28,200.

At current store prices in Italy and Spain, the POCO costs EUR 80 or about KES 11,700 more than the Redmi 17C 5G. For that you get the bigger battery, 2GB more RAM and 45W charging, and you give up 5G.
